E3 is officially here, and today we finally got to show you everything our teams have been working on over the last two years on next-gen hardware. In case you missed it, here is all we announced today:
We started the show with a bang with a surprise reveal of Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare, a first-person shooter (yes, shooter) with your favorite plants fighting back a zombie invasion. Fans got an exclusive first look at the gameplay, and tomorrow we’ll have a Q&A with the game’s producer where we’ll get to share more of what to expect from this title.
We followed up the Plants vs. Zombies surprise revealing another new IP, Titanfall, the inaugural title from our new studio Respawn. Following three years of mystery about the title, fans got to see behind the scenes footage of the multiplayer experience with the Respawn team.
EA President of Labels Frank Gibeau the gave an inside look into our two next-gen engines: EA SPORTS IGNITE and Frostbite 3, new level of innovation that will further blur the lines between the real world and virtual world. Following that, we announced one of the major titles you’ve been waiting for: Star Wars Battlefront. If that wasn’t enough, Aaryn Flynn of BioWare announced the return of Dragon Age with the first trailer of Dragon Age Inquisition.
Following all that big news, it was time to take it to the streets with the first demo of Need For Speed Rivals. The game includes the new “All Drive” technology that destroys the line between single player and multiplayer to create one experience as you drive. We then revealed major news for the Need for Speed franchise as Breaking Bad star Aaron Paul unveiled the first behind-the-scenes footage of the movie, Need For Speed.
EA SPORTS then took the stage in grand fashion, with NBA star Kyrie Irving on hand to show how NBA LIVE will revolutionize dribbling with bounceTek, a new technology that lets the ball act independently from the players’ hands. We also revealed how NBA LIVE 14 will be a truly LIVE experience, updating every HOUR with the latest stats so that the game will be new every time you play it.
EA SPORTS also showed off Madden NFL 25 and FIFA 14 for Xbox One and PlayStation 4 with incredible gameplay footage that incorporates new innovations, such as human intelligence, living worlds and true player motion, all delivered by the EA SPORTS IGNITE engine. Hip hop star Drake, big fan of the FIFA franchise, took to the stage to showcase new next-gen gameplay from FIFA 14.
Following last year’s UFC partnership announcement at E3, today we finally were able to show you what we’ve been working on with the help of UFC President Dana White, UFC lightweight champion Benson Henderson and heavyweight champion Jon Jones. The three joined Andrew Wilson on stage and shared the first trailer for the upcoming UFC game.
We closed the show with a 64-player multiplayer demo of Battlefield 4 (yes, 64) using the Siege of Shanghai map. We also revealed the all-new Commander Mode and Battlelog, which will allow you to play in your living room or on the go.
Oh, and one more thing – Faith is back! DICE is currently working on the next installment of Mirror’s Edge, with more details in the coming months.
We’ll be here on the blog all week with news, video and photos from E3 so stay tuned for more about the 11 games we showcased today.
After all of today’s news, we have to know, which games are you most excited for?
