We’re closing out on a high note from our first day at gamescom 2011 in Cologne, Germany.  When the winners of the official gamescom Awards 2011 were announced tonight, we learned that EA is taking home four “Best of” awards from the show.  Without further ado, our winners are:

And last, but certainly not the least, Battlefield 3 was unanimously elected Best of gamescom 2011.

It’s gratifying in many ways to see our titles recognized with these awards, but perhaps most of all because we are so excited to be bringing each of these games to consumers in the coming months.  We’ve known for some time that this would be a star-studded line-up for the second half of the calendar year, and these four titles showcase some of the best new experiences coming from EA, from console to PC to social.

In truth, these awards are really about appreciating the development teams behind each of these games, their creativity and dedication to their craft.  It’s a testament to the diversity of talent at EA that we’re taking home from gamescom four awards for games in four very distinct genres.  Congratulations to the Star Wars team at BioWare, The Sims team at EA Play, the FIFA 12 team at EA SPORTS, and of course the Battlefield 3 team at our DICE studio in EA Games.

But ultimately it all comes down to the gamers – you’ll get to judge for yourself when each of these games are released in the coming weeks and months.  Tomorrow, 200,000 gamers will flood the Koelnmesse and get some of their first experiences with Star Wars: The Old Republic, FIFA 12, Battlefield 3 (the jets are back!) and many more in our booth.  If you’re here, please come and join us.   Bis Bald!
