NBA LIVE 14 Mixtape: New Music, New Features
Hey NBA LIVE fans, Ryan Santos here to talk music for NBA LIVE 14. As a music lover, this area of the game has always been fun to work on, and this year is the best yet. The soundtrack is packed with some amazing artists and tracks, along with new game features to give you a fresh listening experience. Also, we’re super excited about a special partnership with mixtape DJ extraordinaire and Brooklyn’s own MICK (formerly MICK Boogie).
MICK’s history with EA SPORTS basketball goes back to the NBA LIVE 10 and NBA JAM mixtapes, so he’s no stranger to video game hoops. As a former DJ for the Cleveland Cavaliers and now world-class DJ for entertainment’s biggest stars and hottest brands, we knew MICK was the perfect music expert to curate this year’s soundtrack.
In line with our “Nothing but Next” mantra, our soundtrack features artists ready to take over the music scene. We’re serving up a music discovery platform to treat your ears with sounds expertly selected by MICK himself. His deep and diverse music knowledge, coupled with his industry connects, made for some banging tracks we’re sure you’ll enjoy. We feel this soundtrack is one you can listen to all the way through with enough variety to satisfy almost any LIVE fan.
The music had to be fresh, get you hype to hoop and let you head-nod while you’re between games. Our broad spectrum of beats includes hip-hop, dancehall, indie rock, EDM, trap and more. Pusha T, Action Bronson, Danny Brown, Diplo, Major Lazer, Sleigh Bells, Skaters, and Flosstradamus are just a few of the artists we are proud to be working with. The way you hear all this music in our game is an evolution of the NBA LIVE soundtrack experience. For the first time in our game we’re bringing the mixtape to you. MICK created over 30 custom mixtape bumpers that play in between tracks to allow for a seamless listening experience. We wanted to bring MICK’s signature sound to the game while allowing us to change up the order of the music to keep it fresh.
Additionally you can customize the soundtrack for each game mode by selecting specific tracks to only play in those modes. If you want some more laid back chill sounds for Dynasty throw on some Bishop Nehru “Elder Blossoms”. If you wanna get mad hype for LIVE Season add Pusha T’s “Numbers on the Boards” to that list. The choice is yours.
Best of all, the goodness doesn’t stop there. LIVE content updates for the connected gamer is one of our biggest priorities, so MICK is going to continue to select hot new artists and tracks post-launch, giving us the opportunity to update the game with breaking music throughout the NBA season. NBA LIVE 14 will be a source to hear the latest tracks before anybody else. As the game continually plays and looks different based on what’s happening in the NBA, it’ll sound different too – staying on the pulse of the music scene and building on the culture/lifestyle of hoops.

Fans in North America can pick up NBA LIVE 14 on Tuesday, November 19, for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4. NBA LIVE 14 will also be available worldwide on November 22 for Xbox One, and November 29 for PS4.
