How to get to Gamescom
David on 11.08.2011 at 00:09
Entry to Gamescom requires a visitor admission ticket, which can be purchased at the venue as either a single day pass, or as a Season Ticket for the entire duration of the event. Alternatively, you can save money by booking in advance at the official website. If you are travelling from a country where you need a visa to enter Germany, you will require an official letter from the Koelnmesse; US citizens DO NOT require a visa for a stay in Germany up to 90 days. Please visit the ‘How To‘ page for more information.
The venue and surrounding areas are well-served by a vast array of rail, subway, tram and bus networks, with the ‘Messe/Deutz’ train station just three minutes walk from the Koelnmesse. Partnering with the VRS and VRR Transport Authorities, your Gamescom pass provides free use of almost all the public transport within the region, for the duration of the ticket.
With a location right in the heart of Europe, Cologne itself maintains excellent transport links with the international community. Cologne-Bonn Airport can be reached by train in under 15 minutes from the venue, with regular direct flights to and from many major cities in Europe, with connecting flights for the Rest of the World. Alternatively, the Koelnmesse can also be reached by high-speed ‘ICE‘ trains from Frankfurt Airport, as well as many cities throughout Germany and beyond.
Cologne has a wide variety of hotels, guesthouses and B&B’s, with something to suit every budget, many within easy reach of the Koelnmesse and the city center. Please visit the Gamescom Travel & Accommodation page for more information and to book your stay online.
About Cologne
Split in two by the great Rhine River, Cologne is the fourth-largest city in Germany, with more than one million inhabitants. An important trade center during the Roman Empire and the Middle Ages, Cologne has established itself as a major seat of culture within Europe, with hundreds of galleries, museums and exhibitions to visit.
Marvel in awe at the Gothic spires of Cologne Cathedral, the city’s most famous landmark, or go for a walk along the banks of the river. The city has a vibrant nightlife, with 70 clubs and hundreds of bars, restaurants and pubs available.

Gamescom itself will also be providing plenty of outside entertainment to relax weary gamers, with an artificial beach to laze around and soak up some rays, as well as live music from some of Europe’s hottest acts. Check out the Events calendar to see what’s on offer.
We hope you can join us!
