Battlefield Hardline Coming This Fall

On behalf of everyone at EA and Visceral Games, I’m fired up to confirm our next project – Battlefield Hardline.  The game launches this fall and it’s a brand new series in the Battlefield franchise, set against the backdrop of a genre we all love – the war on crime and the battle between cops and criminals.

Several years ago, I was at an internal EA meeting in Barcelona with creative leaders from across the company. It was there I met Karl Magnus Troedsson, the GM of DICE, for the first time, and we immediately began talking about games – I’ve always loved Battlefield and KM was a huge fan of Dead Space, which I was working on at the time. We started talking about different ways we could work together, different ways we could take Battlefield and action games in a new direction. It was then that this project that became Battlefield Hardline was born.

There’s been a lot of buzz today about Battlefield Hardline – we’re getting ready for E3 and fans found some details on our website about what we’re working on for the show.  We’ve been reading all of your comments and we’re excited to be going into more detail soon on the ways we’re adding new twists and turns to the foundation of Battlefield multiplayer and more about how we’re bringing our strengths at Visceral to single player.

I hope you’ll join us for the official world premiere on June 9 at Noon PDT, and sign up for updates on the new game at our web site www.battlefield.com/hardline.

I hope that "several years ago"means 2+ years ago. If battlefield wants to go annual, it'd better be with enough innovation. Hope Visceral Games leaves us a wonderful first impression

This has potential to be amazing. I'm tired of Battlefield. If GTA V never comes to PC, then this will be my cops and robbers fix. I still play GTA IV all the time but it's definitely dated. I'm also glad it isn't developed by DICE. EA needs to take a serious look at DICE and make some drastic changes - what they are doing now--as exemplified by BF4--is not working. If this game turns out well, maybe EA should hand the BF franchise over to Visceral Games.

I'm curbing my excitement for this because, honestly, Battlefield 4 has left a bad taste in my mouth; EA's refusal to stall the game's release until it was finished was stubborn and ill-advised, and DICE's attitude towards the community (denying all problems with the game then confessing to their mistakes months afterwards) was unacceptable. From what I hear and read, Visceral Games produce good quality titles, but they have work to do to bring the fans back to BF - especially this one.

Good move by EA, but Karl Magnus Troedsson must be fired for start. DICE isn't taking the whole game-development-thing seriously. And BTW, guess who's already working on Battlefield 5?

I hope SWAT team will have good special force gear. I wanna play as a SWAT, not as an ordinary closed Policeman. If they don't do this, I won't buy.

I see the word "SWAT" on that armored vehicle in the image. Looks promising.

Game looks great and lots of fun. Can't wait to play it. But why is EA so afraid of making a new game? Why not call this by a whole new name and let Battlefield be what we know and love?

Por favor, lancem uma versão do battlefield 3 e Road Rash para PS4 ao invés de uma versão nova de battlefield todo ano. Deve ser por isso que os BUGS do battlefield 4 não são corrigidos.

Please launch a version of battlefield 3 and Road Rash to PS4 instead of a new version of battlefield every year. Must be why the battlefield BUGS 4 are uncorrected.

I assume this game will have you investigating witnesses, attempting to sub-due with non-lethal force, and the reading of miranda rights?

You need to remove the 'Battlefield' from this game's title, as Cops 'n' Robbers has bugger all to do with the Battlefield franchise. This game looks like it has potential, but as it's using the Frostbite engine you're already starting with a handicap, player experience with BF4 has proven that. Good luck, you're going to need it.

You have got to be kidding right now.... Please just don't release this title for PC cuz you screw everything up. Keep your failure to consoles.

I hope this is better than Battlefield 4 (they still have not fixed all the bugs, I just stopped playing it, I can't stand it anymore. We need to get a refund from BF4...) Hardline looks promising, can't wait to see the actual gameplay.
