NHL®12 Top 5 Videos of the Year

As we wrap up the year, the NHL®12 team has selected the Top 5 videos for NHL®12. We went back through the entire NHL®12 campaign and chose these videos based on fan reaction, our own personal favorites and big moments in the NHL®12 campaign. We hope you enjoyed these videos as much as we enjoyed making them – let us know which video was your favorite!

Legends were a huge addition in NHL®12! What we really liked about this trailer is that it was the culmination of all the individual Legend reveals and teasers that we did – we loved how you, the fans were talking about each teaser, trying to guess which legend would be unveiled next. And then finally, this unveiled our entire line-up of Legends; the camera panning up and unveiling Gretzky as he emerges for the shadows still sends shivers down our collective spines! We really like the Legends lineup at the end with Lemieux and Gretzky side-by-side, two of the greatest to play the game!
This trailer made the cut because it tells a story, just like ‘Be a Pro’, the trailer takes you on a journey from the CHL to the NHL and we think that’s pretty cool! It was also one of the first trailers where you’re shown the EA SPORTS Action Tracker. The Action Tracker is one the NHL team’s favorite additions to NHL®12 and we were really excited to show it off. It’s more than just a stats/replays hub, the Action Tracker is a tool that allows the NHL®12 community to track and post their best highlights with ease – and if there’s anything we’ve learned so far, it’s that people love showing off their top goals!
3) Wayne Gretzky’s Trick Shots (Collegehumor)
What do you get when you mix Wayne Gretzky and a parody trick shots video? A video that was viewed by over 1,000,000 people, as well as some internet comments screaming foul that “OMGz! That video was faake, right?!” Hmm, while Gretzky is the great one, he probably couldn’t destroy the moon with his shot. That probably should’ve tipped you off right there, just sayin’.
2) NHL®12 ‘They’re Back’ TV Spot
Gretzky’s banner coming down from the rafters, Lemieux’s name in the line-up on the white board, this TV spot still gives me chills. We received a lot of feedback from fans saying that this was one of their favorite commercials ever, so it was definitely a tough call of whether or not to make this the #1 video. It was a toss up in the end, but the #1 video goes to…
1) NHL®12 Stamkos Cover Reveal (Live at the 2011 NHL Awards)
There are just so many cool things about this video: the blending of real-life and in-game footage; the fact that it unveiled the NHL®12 cover live at the NHL®Awards; how it paid tribute to the recent history of the EA SPORTS NHL series cover athletes. This is our #1 pick for Top NHL®12 videos and we’re sticking to it.
