Every year, International Women’s Day (IWD) is celebrated on May 8th. At EA, we have dedicated the whole month of March to this internationally recognized day that highlights the accomplishments and contributions of women across the world.
Many of EA's global studios participated in their own IWD celebrations, a number of which have been highlighted below. We hope you enjoy a recap of our celebrations, and we look forward to continuing this tradition next year!
PopCap Seattle, PopCap San Francisco, and EA Romania had special viewings of a TED Talk video series. All videos featured technology-focused topics presented by women.
A charity drive was conducted at several different studios throughout the month of March to collect video and board games for Girls Make Games summer camps. Participating studios included PopCap Seattle, PopCap San Francisco, EA Redwood Shores, EA Guildford, and EA Austin.
EA Salt Lake City, BioWare Edmonton, and BioWare Montreal hosted luncheons to celebrate IWD amongst fellow female coworkers. EA Salt Lake City hosted an additional luncheon where women at EA were able to meet and connect with the women from the University of Utah Game Engineering Arts and Entertainment program!
Women @ EA Networking events were held at EA Redwood Shores and EA Guildford. These events served as opportunities for women working at their respective studios to connect and build a stronger community to support fellow women at EA.
PopCap Seattle hosted a board game night with the local chapter of Women in Games International (WIGI). Over fifty attendees visited the studio to play games, eat pizza, and meet other women in the Seattle are working in games.
The EA Hyderabad studio welcomed a mehndi artist and a caricature artist to provide beautiful hand art and portraits for the women in the studio!
Both EA Austin studios participated in a volunteer event at the local Dress for Success office, helping sort and separate professional clothing for women to wear at job interviews.
