Prior to joining EA, I spent 11 years at the University of Massachusetts Amherst completing BS, MS and PhD degrees in Computer Science. My research focused on computer vision and machine learning, where I worked on building probabilistic models for automatic labeling and organization of images. I also interned at Google in New York City for a year where I contributed to both Google Maps and Google Products.
Getting Your Start with EA
After graduate school I explored technical roles at various companies I was familiar with or extensively used their products. Having played FIFA for countless hours, I naturally checked out the EA careers website. I came across the posting for my current position, which combined my interests in large-scale machine learning and artificial intelligence, within the context of making video games more engaging, intelligent and profitable.
Working at EA
My team has the feel of a small start-up within EA. We focus on building a number of products that are beneficial to a large number of stakeholders across EA. We own our entire tech stack and work on iterating our products quickly to adjust to the naturally changing needs of studios and the release of new titles. I specifically have been given the freedom to design and build my own product. This responsibility brings along the rare opportunity to have real, measurable impact.
Professionally, working at EA has both given me the opportunity to work on challenging technical problems that leverage my academic training, and has enabled me to expand my skillset and push myself in new directions. On the personal side, working at EA means being able to live in San Francisco and comfortably commute to work. I’ve also begun playing soccer again after several years off because of the lunchtime soccer games we play on the Great Lawn.

Finding an ideal job goes far beyond a posting or description. Team dynamics, chemistry, organization, and vision can sometimes matter more than the day-to-day responsibilities, and that can impact how successful you can be. As you browse postings, I encourage you to take the extra step of talking to recruiters and potential team members. Ask the hard questions that go beyond the responsibilities of the role and really evaluate if the team is a right fit for you.
