A group of EA employees under the team name "Canyoneros - EA SPORTS" ran, biked, canoed and navigated under premiere race organizer Florida Xtreme Adventures to raise awareness for US soldiers injured during military service.
These four have been adventure racing for 2-4 years - a sport that combines physical ability with strategic thinking. Racers run, trek, bike and canoe for long distances, while trying to use old navigation methods (maps and compasses) to find checkpoints, as GPS is prohibited.
"We’ve built up the endurance and skills needed to do pretty well for 8-30hr race lengths in the past, so this year, we thought it was a great time to go into a 3 day expedition race. Luckily for us, we did well enough to all qualify for the US national championships in Kentucky last October," says team member Hien. Doing a race of this caliber, the group knew that they could garner more attention, and in doing so, they took the opportunity to raise awareness for the Wounded Warriors Project suggested by a team member, as he is an ex-service member of the Air Force.
Great job, team!
