FIFA 19 Global Series

FUT Champions Cup

The first of six FUT Champions Cups* is set to kick off in Bucharest, Romania on November 30 to December 2, marking the first FIFA 19 Global Series major event of the year. The full 64-compeitor roster for the tournament proves that this event is the first step on the path to the pinnacle of FIFA 19 competitive gaming and that any eligible player can go from couch to champion.

We've done the hard work and sifted through the entire roster to highlight a few key competitors to keep an eye on in Bucharest. From last year's FUT Champions Cup Barcelona winner Donovan “F2Tekkz” Hunt to fan favorites like Nicolas “Nicolas99FC” Villalba the Bucharest event is loaded with FIFA 19 stars. Additionally, the winner of the first Licensed Qualifier Event of the year, the Continental Cup presented by PS4, Joksan Redona will also be competing in Romania's capital. Joksan lifted the trophy of the Continental Cup during Paris Games Week back in October becoming the first North American competitor to win a EA SPORTS FIFA Global Series non-regional event. Read on for more competitors to hone in on in Bucharest.

Joksan “Epsilon Joksan” Redona

A recent Epsilon esports signing and the PlayStation Continental Cup champion, Joksan comes into the FUT Champions Cup November with an air of confidence about him. The American had a breakthrough season last year when he won the PlayStation 4 division of the Gfinity Spring Cup and is looking to further cement his place as one of the top players worldwide on the console. With the backing of a strong esports team and the talent and drive to grind, he could be one of the favorites to go all the way.

Donovan “F2Tekkz” Hunt

The now 17-year-old F2Tekkz has come a long way since his victory in Barcelona last year that shocked the FIFA competitive scene. After not making the FIFA eWorld Cup 2018 last year, he experienced his first major setback of his fledgling competitive career. But this didn’t seem to stop F2Tekkz, who has come back this year with a vengeance, being one of a small subset of players to qualify for all of the events so far this year, as well as being the first player on Xbox One to hit 30-0 during the Weekend League. Can he display his dominance on the biggest stage of all and repeat his Barcelona success?

August “North Agge” Rosenmeier

Agge’s unexpected departure from Hashtag United left many wondering where he’d go to next. The veteran competitor is one of the most experienced FIFA players in the scene, and a renowned figure in the Nordic scene. So, when he announced his move to North, it seemed for Agge that everything had begun to fall into place. His start to the season this year has been nothing short of dominant, achieving multiple 30-0 finishes in the Weekend League as well as qualifying for multiple live events. However, his performance in the PlayStation Continental Cup was a difficult blow to take, as he crashed out in the group stages. Can Agge bounce back and start putting some FIFA 19 Global Series Points to his name?

Nicolas “Nicolas99FC” Villalba

Nicolas99FC was a name many feared seeing in their Swiss matchups last year. With dominant performances across the board in all of his live events, the young Argentine has proven himself as a ruthless competitor who isn’t afraid to take names. However, whilst regarded as one of the favorites to win the FIFA eWorld Cup trophy in London, he dropped out at the last hurdle. He’ll be out to prove this year with his new team FC Basel that he can take the trophy home. First stop? Bucharest.

Other competitors to watch

Kai “Hensoo” Hense

The German representing 1.FC Nurnberg has put in a dominant display across all three online qualifiers so far this year, qualifying for the first three events with relative ease. Hensoo seems to have something to prove this year, but he’ll need to translate his online success to live event glory if he wants to reach the FIFA 19 Global Series Playoffs.

Ivan “Night_watch” Churov

Night_watch is slowly starting to make a name for himself after his performance at the FIFA 18 Global Series Playoffs, routinely performing at the highest level and qualifying for the first two FUT Champions Cups so far this year. He’ll want to start showing that he can beat the best, and get the crucial live event experience needed to succeed at the highest level.

Alexander “Roma Alekzandur” Betancourt

Former eMLS player and new Roma signing Alekzandur may be a familiar face to many after his appearance at the FIFA eWorld Cup 2018 last year. Incredible performances from the American saw him make it to the very end of the competitive calendar, and this year he seems to be aiming even higher. One of very few American players to qualify for the first two major events, he continues to impress on a weekly basis and is surely one of the most feared names in the FIFA 19 Global Series Qualifiers.
