GAMEPLAY UPDATES FOR SEPTEMBER AND BEYOND
BREAKDOWN
We’re back to share our progress on where the team is currently focusing its efforts, what’s coming in the next update, and a first look at future updates. The next update is scheduled for September, so stay tuned to the official EA SPORTS UFC social channels for the exact go-live date.
Your feedback and detailed community reports continue to play a vital role in refining the fight experience. Today, we want to dive into ground-game responsiveness, stamina costs, automatic parries, and submission-entry exploits.
Please keep in mind that these are just some of the updates and fixes coming in September. Updates currently in development are subject to change; fixes may be added, adjusted, or removed before they go live.
GROUND GAME RESPONSIVENESS IMPROVEMENTS
Improving the responsiveness of ground transitions and grappling mechanics is one of our top priorities. We are excited to report that we are making significant strides in this area.
COMING IN THE SEPTEMBER PATCH
In our next update, players will notice a substantially smoother flow when executing common takedowns, including double legs, single legs, and their respective turns. These actions will now transition into the ground game much more quickly.

**
- Offline & Online Impact: This increased responsiveness applies across all game modes, but the difference will be more noticeable in online matches.
- Behind the Scenes: This improvement is driven by targeted code fixes alongside individual animation adjustments, allowing fighters to branch into follow-up actions much sooner.
FIXING THE HUD TOGGLE
The September update brings a fix to the HUD toggle bug. The setting will work like intended, allowing you to turn the HUD on and off.
SIGNATURE IDLES & MOVE SETS UPDATE
Rich Franklin’s and Tank Abbott’s signature idles and move sets will be improved in the September update. Here’s a sneak peek:

FUTURE UPDATES FIRST LOOK*
*Updates currently in development are subject to change; fixes may be added, adjusted, or removed before they go live.
FUTURE GROUND GAME IMPROVEMENTS
Following the upcoming September patch, we plan to expand these responsiveness gains across the ground game as a whole. In a subsequent update, fighters will be able to act much earlier, following:
- All Remaining Takedowns: Expanding beyond double and single legs to cover all remaining takedown variations.
- Transition Starts: Enabling faster transition cancels and resolving the issue of "hanging fakes."
- Transition Successes: Reducing recovery delays after successfully moving from one position to another.
- Denials: Allowing quicker recovery and follow-up actions after successfully denying an opponent’s transition or attempt
DENIED TAKEDOWNS & STAMINA COST BALANCING
We’ve received consistent community feedback regarding the stamina impact of denied takedowns, specifically that attackers aren't penalized with enough stamina consumption when their takedowns are successfully defended.
During our investigation into increasing these costs, we discovered underlying instances where stamina costs were not being applied correctly. These bugs are a major contributor to the fact that wrestling-heavy fight strategies currently carry a lower overall stamina penalty than intended.
- Next Steps: Our immediate priority is to fix these application bugs first. Once those fixes are implemented, we will evaluate the overall balance of wrestling stamina and fine-tune costs further if necessary.
- Timeline: These fixes will not be included in the immediate next patch, but work is actively underway, and we will keep you updated on our progress.
INVESTIGATING AUTOMATIC PARRIES
Thanks to detailed bug reports and clips submitted by the community, we have made great progress investigating instances in which parries occur automatically without explicit player input.
Loss of player agency during engagements is something we take very seriously. Having identified strong leads, our team is actively prioritizing targeted fixes for these unintended parries.
- Timeline: This update will not go live in the next patch, but in a future update once internal testing is complete.
