At EA, we value being a good corporate citizen and community member.
Last week, the team at EA Sydney had the opportunity to enter a team through EA Outreach into the grueling OXFAM Trailwalker. The goal: to raise funds to help alleviate global poverty.
The group consisted of two teams of four (left to right): Britt Austin, Sam Li, Christine Chiang, Sabrina Gautier, Robyn Henderson, Matt Smith, Jodie Van Hibb, and Simon Smith-Wright. Plus, a big special mention for Josh Cavaleri, who trained with the team every step of the way, but had the joy of his son arriving into the world a week before the start. Sabrina Gautier stepped up to the challenge last minute…with no training!
The trail consisted of 50km in dense bushland, steep climbs, and rocky descents. It was an extremely tough challenge!
“It truly was great to do as a team and highly recommended if others want to join the Oxfam Trailwalker next year”, says team member Simon.
We’ll have raised around $7k for Oxfam, with a portion of that raised via EA YourCause to be dollar matched by EA – tackling poverty together one step at a time!

The Oxfam challenge was no easy task for a group of mainly “non-walkers”. Months of training was required.
Prior to the big day, the team stepped up their training with both morning and evening walks. They also took on the first half of the trail and marched the first 20kms together.
The group really enjoyed the training and challenging themselves. It also brought them closer together as a team.
Coach Britt kept the team on track with their fitness, nutrition and general motivation!
Everyone deserves quality of life. The walk was an extraordinary challenge both physically and mentally, but the team at EA Sydney wanted to make a difference, push their limits and raise money for poverty.
