The Hussar Cavalry unit was designed to bring an alternative tactical choice when choosing to deploy as cavalry in Battlefield 1. Inspired by the legendary Russian Hussars of World War 1, they bring to the battlefield powerful skill over their mounts combined with the deadly efficiency of a cavalry lance.

Capable of impaling soldiers in a single swift charge, the Hussar unit is designed to be a hit and run unit, versus the “stay and slash” tactics of the standard saber cavalry unit. As a Hussar you should be staying agile and striking quickly to maximise your effectiveness.

Focusing as much of our effort as we could on nailing the impale moment, both for the rider and the impale-e, was a priority for us. Successfully landing an impale was something we really wanted players to shout about. It’s also something that takes subtle skill to achieve consistently; there’s an art to timing it perfectly.
