DullenMIKE becomes the youngest FUT Champions Cup Champion

The 16 year old German defeats his compatriot Hasoo19 in the cross-console final to take the FUT Champions Cup Crown.

Almost a year to the day when a young British newcomer by the name of F2Tekkz rocked the FIFA competitive scene by winning the title in Barcelona at only 16 years old, a new, even younger competitor took the FUT Champions Cup January in Bucharest.

Dylan “DullenMIKE” Neuhausen sent a clear message of authority to the FIFA competitive gaming circuit by being the newest pro engraving his name in the FUT Champions Cup. After securing his berth in the knockout stage with a 3-2 record in the Swiss group stage, the SK Gaming pro found his rhythm in the elimination rounds where he defeated perennial favourites like Gorilla, Ajax Dani and Nraseck in the console final.

The victory in Romanian soil catapulted the 16 year old to third spot in the Xbox Global Series Rankings. Having qualified to only three live events so far, the 1,500 Global Series earned in Bucharest will prove key in DullenMIKE's aspirations to qualify for the Global Series Playoffs and, eventually, the FIFA eWorld Cup.

German Dominance

The FUT Champions Cup January saw a resurgence of the German dominance in the circuit. Four players of the final eight come from Germany and the cross-console final was an all-German affair. On the PlayStation 4 side, Schanzer eSports pro Hasoo19 and LostInTheWavesz reached the console semifinals while Rogue's Nraseck and, the eventual champion, DullenMIKE represented Germany in the Xbox semis.

It is well known that Germany is a hotbed for high quality FIFA pros but up to this point in the season they had not been able to win a major event. That all changed on Sunday in Bucharest as DullenMIKE lifted the third major tournament of the year.

It remains to be seen whether or not this victory reinvigorates the German pros and begins a series of German victories as we move along in the Road to the FIFA eWorld Cup.

So Close

Well-known names were present at the later stages of the tournament. Seasoned veterans like Ajax Dani and Rogue's Nraseck were eliminated by the eventual champion DullenMIKE in the console semifinals and final respectively.

Dani and Nraseck are proven pros with years of experience in the circuit, however silverware has eluded them throughout the years. With plenty of events left in the FIFA competitive Gaming calendar, both competitors will have opportunities to finally give the last step and step into the spotlight.

Rankings Updated

The results in Bucharest had some interesting impact on the FIFA 19 Global Series Rankings. DullenMIKE became the youngest FUT Champions Cup champion in history. With his victory in Bucharest, the 16 year old has firmly taken possession of the third spot in the Xbox Global Rankings.

After winning the PlayStation console final at the FUT Champions Cup January, the German player leaped 143 spots in the Global Rankings all the way to 5th spot.
