Treasure Hunt FAQ

Dig through these new details of the Treasure Hunt event FAQ!

Sul sul,

The Treasure Hunt live event is a brand-new way to play in The Sims Mobile. To help make sure you can hit the ground running, our game team have put together this FAQ.

Event Overview

Q – How do I start the Treasure Hunt event?

A – When this event is live, you’ll see a map icon on the right-hand side of your game. Open it up! Its your tool to help you find where X marks the spot! From this map you can choose to go to Research and Investigation Events, visit Expedition Dig Sites with your Sims and view the Treasure Site (where all the prizes are found!)

Q – I’m ready to help Smallfry and the Sims Explorers Guild and find some clues! Where do I begin?

A – Check out the treasure map and begin the new ‘Research: Home Clue Hunt’. At home, your Sim must start researching and studying to generate clues that help you figure out where to look next for treasure!

Q – What are ‘Clues’ and why do I need them?

A – Clues are a special resource your Sims need to search for treasure! You can earn clues by doing the ‘Research: Home Clue Hunt’ event. They’re used to perform both Expedition and Investigation events. There is a cap on how many clues you can store, so be sure to keep using them!

Q – What is an Investigation event and what do I do?

A - These take place at pre-existing venues all around Briny Heights and require Clues to begin. Sims must undertake themed actions to help look for information about where the treasure might be. You'll be rewarded a mixture of different Prize Tokens: Ancient Relic Coins (common) and Simoleons.

Q – What are Expedition events and how do they differ from an Investigation event?

A – Expedition events require your Sims to visit new archeology dig sites around town, and also require Clues to begin. Your Sims must undertake themed actions like digging for treasure and are rewarded with Ancient Relics and Golden Bunnies. Additionally, you can find Smallfry’s Dig Site in these locations, where you can play a special mini-game.

Q - How long does it take to complete Investigation and Expedition events?

A – These events have a variety of durations and cooldowns. Keep an eye on the timers on the treasure map!

Q – Some events on the Treasure Map are locked! How to I access them?

A – To discover additional event locations on the Treasure Map, you need to help Smallfry with his special quest. Visit the Questlog to find “Smallfry’s Quest for Treasure” and complete the steps listed. By continuing this quest, you will unlock the hidden locations on the Treasure Map!

Q – What else do I get for completing “Smallfry’s Quest for Treasure”?

A – Smallfry's Quest is important for unlocking new locations on the Treasure Map, but it also has other rewards!

  • Clue Boosts – You will unlock “Clue Boosts’ which increase how many clues you can earn from Research events
  • Ancient Relics and Golden Bunnies – earn extra tokens for purchasing prizes!
  • Unique Item – The quest has an additional special reward upon completion!

Smallfry’s Dig Site Mini-Game

Q - How do I find Smallfry’s Dig Site?

A – Visit an expedition dig site by opening your map. In the middle of the excavation site, you’ll see a Walkie Talkie action icon!

Q – How do I play Smallfry’s Dig Site?

To start a dig, you must spend a Walkie Talkie to get a tip from Smallfry. His tip will reveal 3 possible dig locations (white circles) and all of the possible rewards contained within! Pick which spot to dig to receive one of the rewards. You’ll automatically receive one Walkie Talkie every 5 hours, and can store up to 5 at a time.

Q – What can I earn from Smallfry’s Dig Site??

A - At the expedition dig sites, you'll be able to earn more Relics (common) and Golden Bunnies (rare). There’s even a chance to earn other rare rewards like LlamaZoom tokens, or even SimCash!

Q - What is a Walkie Talkie and how can I get more?

A – Walkie Talkies are required to dig at Smallfry’s Dig Site. You begin the Treasure Hunt event with 5, and they will continue to recharge throughout the event. You will gain one Walkie Talkie every 5 hours, and can store up to a maximum of 5. You can also spend SimCash to get extra Walkie Talkies!

Q – What’s the best way to figure out where to dig?

A - It's unclear which spot has what treasure! You can pick 1 out of 3 spots to dig and receive the reward within, or spend Simoleons to “scan” and reveal the contents of one location to inform your choice! If you’d like to dig again for a second or third time, this is possible using Simcash or Cupcakes.

Prizes Overview

Q - So, I've earned all these Ancient Relics and Golden Bunnies, but how do I use them?

A: The Ancient Relics and Golden Bunnies allow you to unearth prizes! You can exchange Tokens for rewards in the Treasure Site (rewards screen), which can be found on the tab to the left of the screen on the main Treasure Map screen.

Q - I can see the prize structure is like a pyramid, how do I unlock prizes further down?

A - In order to excavate treasure from deeper levels, you’ll need to excavate the treasure above them first. You can continue downwards, purchasing more prizes, as long as the two prizes directly above any item are unlocked! This means you don’t have to complete a whole row before moving down to the next row, and you can aim for your favorite prizes first.

Q – How do color options for prizes work? Do I need to purchase them separately?

A – Color options are awarded as a bonus each time you complete a whole row of prizes! By completing the row, you will unlock all color options for all the prizes on that row!

Q – I see the Grand Prize is in a big treasure chest at the bottom of the Treasure Site! How do I earn it?

A – To purchase the Grand Prize chest, you need to unearth all the prizes above first. Once this is done, the chest becomes available for purchase, and rewards all items inside, including all color options!

Q – Are there any other ways to earn prize tokens?

A – Yes! You can earn ancient relics by completing LlamaZoom deliveries, and sometimes from completing regular events as well. There’s also a chance to earn them  by watching ads from your mailbox.

Q - How do I find out more about the Treasure Hunt event?

A – Join the conversation on The Sims Mobile Twitter page! Chat to the SimGurus and other passionate players by searching #TheSimsMobile and post your exciting discoveries with Smallfry.
