FUT Champions Cup April — Day 2 Recap
Day 2 in London produced arguably the strongest field of quarter finalists at a FUT Champions Cup all season.
With some Day 1 drama in the rearview, Day 2 of the FUT Champions Cup April event in London was all about the gameplay. As eight of the top 10 competitors on the PS4 Global Series Points rankings settled in, a couple of sleeper candidates in FIFA 19 esports awoke from their slumber to let the world know they're squarely back on the map as the march to the 2019 eWorld Cup continues.

Joksan's rest pays off
Complexity's Joksan (ranked #2 in the world on PS4), who kicked off the FIFA 19 competitive season with a victory at the Continental Cup in Paris last October, had taken some time off from tournament play to rest up for a late-season run. His strategy paid off as he emerged with a quarterfinal berth on Day 2 in London, earning two of his three Swiss round wins in penalties. He then defeated German stalwart MoAuba by an aggregate score of 6-4 in the Knockout stage to advance to the final day of competition. Already near the top of the PS4 Global Series Points standings, Joksan has solidified his seat at the FIFA 19 eWorld Cup later this year, and planted his flag as one of the worlds top contenders on his home console.

Marcuzo finds his focus
Marcuzo, who advanced to the semifinals at the 2018 eWorld Cup last summer, had yet to make waves in the FIFA 19 Global Series, showed up on Day 2 with a strong showing, and seemed to get better as the day unfolded. The Denmark dominator posted nine aggregate goals in his final Swiss round game and defeated Portgual's tuga810 in a nailbiter during the Knockout stage. Marcuzo, repped by North esports, will play against Day 2's Player of the Day, xLevVinkin, to kick off the quarterfinal round on Sunday.
Both console brackets are stacked on Day 3
With top PS4 players like FCB nicolas99fc, Vitality Maestro, M10Ustun, and TimoX still alive on Day 3, the competition is sure to be top notch on Sunday. But on the XB1 side of the field, things are setting up for a potential console final between Rogue MsDossary and F2Tekkz who already played each other on Day 1 in Swiss round play, with the reigning World Champion, MsDossary, coming out on top. Some other serious contenders include FaZe Tass, who will kick off the quarterfinals against MsDossary, Ajax Joey, and Hashtag Harry still remain. But only one FUT Champions Cup victor will be crowned on the final day of action in London.
