Salute To Superfans: Westie

We all love video games, but some just love them more than others. In this series, we’ll be highlighting some of our most passionate fans from around the world.

Can you imagine playing a game 10,000 times?

For “Tsunami2069” (real name: Francisco Vitorino), that’s exactly what he’s done, recently posting a video showing his 10,000th game of Titanfall.

You played your 10,000th game of Titanfall recently. What do you love about the game?

I have been a video game player throughout my life and FPS (First Person Shooters) have always been one of my favorite genres.

These past few years I’ve felt that the quality of a lot of FPS games had been lowering, mostly due to a lack of innovation or a repetitive sense of "more of the same".

In my opinion, Titanfall broke that pattern. Titanfall was the first game in quite a while to feel fun, fast and engaging, but also fresh and somewhat innovative, thanks to certain features like wall running and the Titans.

The speed, mobility, balance, action level and the all-out fun it provides. Oh and Titans of course... Who doesn't love fighting in big mean machines?

How did you first start getting into Titanfall? When you start playing?

I didn't hear a lot about Titanfall before it came out. I heard that a FPS with big robots was coming out but because I had only recently started to watch streams on Twitch, and also because, in my country (Portugal) game advertisement isn't a big thing.

After one of my favorite Twitch streamers (Darkness_429) played the game on his stream and I fell in love with it, bought it the next day and haven’t stopped playing since.

What’s the most exciting part of a Titanfall match?

The speed and mobility. The ability to just, pretty much, wall run on any flat surface and obtain incredible speeds while traversing the map. That and the great fast action shooting.

How have you improved at the game over time? What are you better at now than you were when you started?

Just by playing basically. Having played this game so extensively, I have come to learn all the tips, tricks and mechanics of the game.

Learning all the weapons, maps, the nooks and corners, where to wall run, best and fastest paths to cross a map – all these things have helped me a lot become the player I am today.

Do you play Titanfall with friends?

Definitely. Before I opened my own software development company, I used to stream on Twitch quite extensively and Titanfall was the most common game on my channel. Titanfall brought me almost 10x the viewers of any other game.

I guess I could say that, despite my channel being small, what it is today was, mostly, thanks to Titanfall. My Twitch stream helped me obtain a rather large list of people that wanted to play Titanfall.

What are your most memorable moments from playing Titanfall? What stands out?

I’ve captured quite a few of my favorite moments on the stream and have uploaded them to my YouTube channel.

Goosers refer to pilots that you shoot after they eject from their Titan but before they touch the ground. Some of the more difficult goosers with the charge rifle or Frag grenades come to mind.

What has you most excited about Titanfall 2?

I believe that the lore of the game and its game mechanics have so much potential to provide an even bigger and more enjoyable gaming experience. I’m excited for the possibilities.

You can follow and watch Tsunami2060 play on his Twitch and YouTube channels.
