• EA PLAY 2016 EA Players and Peter Moore Talk Competitive Gaming and the Road Ahead Community Members meet EA’s Chief Competition Officer to discuss FIFA and other upcoming titles

After participating in the EA PLAY press conference on Sunday, the day was just beginning for EA Chief Competition Office Peter Moore. Following the event, Peter sat down for two sessions with roughly two dozen YouTubers and influential community members from UK and France to discuss the future of competitive gaming at EA.

The first session focused on the road ahead for FIFA with regards to professional competitive tournaments and the required features and modes. Moore also explained why professional football clubs have recently started to sign eSports players for their teams, like for example Bundesliga clubs VfL Wolfsburg, Schalke 04 or Premier League’s West Ham.

“It’s a smart move to sign eSports players,” Peter said. “Clubs are starting to recognize the importance of competitive tournaments and players as a way to connect with new audiences.”

The first session concluded with a round of questions from the invited community guests. One of guests was Spencer Owen, manager of the eSports team #HashTagUnited.

“Last year I was invited to talk to Andrew Wilson about FIFA and now to Peter Moore. it's great that they give us an opportunity to hear what they have planned for the future,” Spencer said.

In the second session, Peter met with community members and content creators, getting their feedback on the games they saw at EA PLAY and providing insight into the development process and how the games come to life. The community and content creators are an important part of the process, providing feedback to our development teams and creating amazing stories from our games.

“The players making content from our games truly understand the audience and global gaming community and have the skills to create videos that really grab a player’s attention,” Moore said.

Leo “Leozaur” Parkin was one of the participants of the second session. The young YouTuber from Manchester was invited for the first time by EA and was especially excited about the two simultaneous EA PLAY events. She said she couldn’t have travelled to Los Angeles, so going to London was perfect for her.

“When you get to talk to people like Peter, it’s so much different from the statements you read,” Leo said. “They have such a rich knowledge of the gaming industry.”
