On Friday, Zlatan Ibrahimović scored all three of PSG’s goals as they defeated Lorient 3-1. The win, coupled with Lyon’s 1-2 loss to Nice on Saturday, allowed PSG to take control of first place. The defending champions currently hold a one point lead over Lyon and a two point lead over Marseille, who sit in third.
Arsenal continue to put pressure on league leader’s Chelsea and second-place Manchester City. On Saturday, they defeated Newcastle 1-2 with Olivier Giroud scoring both goals for the Gunners. Following the international break, Arsenal host Liverpool in a must-win match for both clubs.
Staying in England, Juan Mata scored both of Manchester United’s goals as they took care of rivals Liverpool 1-2 at Anfield on Sunday. United currently sit one point behind Arsenal in fourth. However, they moved five points clear of Liverpool in fifth.
