RICH FRANKLIN

EA SPORTS UFC 6 fighter card for Rich “Ace” Franklin on a pink gradient background. Shows 4.5 stars, U.S. flag, 29-7-1 record, and a shirtless render wearing gloves and “ROADLOCK” trunks. Right panel lists 96 Cardio, 96 Punch Power, 96 Blocking.

  • Pro MMA Record: 29-7-0
  • Division: Middleweight

Bio: Highly touted for his exceptional cardio, technical southpaw striking, and well-rounded skill set, UFC Hall of Famer Rich Franklin is a true pioneer of modern MMA. The former high school math teacher helped bring MMA into the mainstream during its mid-2000s boom. Possessing an uncanny resemblance to a certain fictional pet detective, “Ace” traded the classroom for the Octagon to become one of the most dominant middleweight champions of his era.

UFC 6 Keys to Victory:

To maximize Rich Franklin's strengths, players should focus on a disciplined, fast-paced, southpaw striking strategy with well-timed grappling mix-ups:

Southpaw Stance & Straight Left Precision

Use Franklin’s technical southpaw stance to set up sharp 1-2 combinations, leading with the jab to open up the straight left down the pipe.

Relentless Cardio & Pace Management

Capitalize on Franklin’s high stamina to maintain a high volume of output across all rounds, wearing down opponents who rely on explosive early bursts.

Clinch Control & Dirty Boxing Mix-Ups

Blend striking with clinch entries to shut down aggressive brawlers, using knees and short hooks in close range to break up their rhythm.

NEW ROSTERED FIGHTERS - AVAILABLE TO ALL PLAYERS

JOSH HOKIT

  • Pro MMA Record: 10-0-0 | 6 First Round Finishes
  • Division / UFC Ranking: Heavyweight, #4

Bio: If you’re a UFC Heavyweight, don’t make “The Incredible Hok” angry; you won’t like him when he’s ANGRY! An undefeated American heavyweight mixed martial artist and former multi-sport collegiate athlete. Before competing in MMA, Hokit was a Division I All-American wrestler in college who also spent time on pro football practice squads. At UFC 327, Hokit defeated Curtis Blaydes via unanimous decision, setting the all-time UFC heavyweight record for most combined significant strikes in a single fight (351 landed).

UFC 6 Keys to Victory:

To maximize Josh Hokit's strengths, players should focus on a heavy-pressure, wrestling-centric strategy:

Relentless Takedown Offense

Capitalize on Hokit's elite Division I wrestling base to mix up entries, initiate clinch drives along the cage, and take down striking heavyweights before they settle into a rhythm.

Smothering Top Control & Ground-and-Pound

Once on the mat, utilize Hokit's heavy top pressure to deny transitions, reduce your opponent's stamina, and unleash high-damage ground-and-pound strikes.

Intelligent Forward Pressure & Pocket Entry

Use Hokit's superior athletic pace to cut off space, trap opponents against the cage, and force uncomfortable exchanges where his physical strength gives him the advantage.

KYOJI HORIGUCHI

  • Pro MMA Record: 36-6-0 | 10 First Round Finishes
  • Division / UFC Ranking: Flyweight, #5

Bio: Recognized as one of the most decorated lower-weight fighters in combat sports history, Kyoji Horiguchi combines lightning-fast Karate footwork with surgical striking and sharp grappling. Horiguchi got his start in MMA under the guidance of the legendary "Kid" Yamamoto, adopting part of his nickname as a tribute to his mentor. Today, the Japanese star trains in Florida alongside world-class training partners like Alexandre Pantoja.

UFC 6 Keys to Victory:

To maximize Kyoji Horiguchi's strengths, players should focus on a high-speed, distance-management striking strategy

Footwork & In-and-Out Distance Management

Leverage Horiguchi's unique Karate stance and high movement speed to dart in and out of striking range before opponents can set up counters

Precision Blitz Combos & Counter-Striking

Capitalize on Horiguchi's rapid-fire hand speed by launching quick 2-to-3-punch blitzes before quickly stepping out of range to reset for another blitz when the time is right.

Explosive Takedown Defense & Scramble Transitions

Use Horiguchi's elite takedown defense and athleticism to deny takedown attempts from wrestle-heavy fighters, immediately scrambling back to the feet.

GAMEPLAY IMPROVEMENTS

This update includes several gameplay improvements and fixes to health and stamina, specific Perks and Flow States, and other notable fixes.

HEALTH & STAMINA UPDATES

  • Increased the stamina cost for missed and evaded strikes by 10%.
    • [Dev Insight] We've heard feedback that stamina is abundant. There is also a widespread sense of not being rewarded enough for outplaying the opponent, making them miss, and hitting them with counters. This change will reward skillful play, being accurate, making the opponent miss, evading strikes, and countering, as the opponent will take more damage if their stamina is lower after their strike is evaded.
  • Decreased the long-term stamina recovery between rounds by 10%.
    • [Dev Insight] This will highlight the strategy of surviving early rounds against power strikes, then turning up the heat once they're tired in later rounds.
  • Decreased the amount of stuns and knockdowns required to accumulate into a knockout or leg TKO.
    • Head amount altered by 20%.
    • Leg amount altered by 30%.
    • [Dev Insight] We’ve heard feedback on the number of knockdowns: there are often too many in a fight. We’re decreasing the number of health events (stuns and knockdowns) that have to accumulate before any other health event becomes a knockout. Please note that this change does not prevent “Flash KOs”; it only makes “KOs by accumulation” easier to achieve. Body TKOs are currently happening at an appropriate rate, largely because body health events already have a significant impact on stamina. As a result, we’re leaving body TKO tuning unchanged for now.
  • Decreased long-term body damage by 10%.
    • [Dev Insight] We have been seeing long-term body health drop significantly in many fights, along with a high number of body TKOs. This is occurring due to multiple factors that changed from UFC 5 to UFC 6, such as: (a) much faster combinations; (b) new Strike Variants, which increase the versatility of body strikes; (c) Perks and Flow State; and (d) better defensive actions, which help in defending the head more than the body. The stamina changes coming in this patch will also increase the incentive to attack the body. This long-term body-damage nerf is meant to compensate for all these factors.

PERKS & FLOW STATE UPDATES

  • Reduced the bonuses granted by multiple Flow States:
    • Stinger
      • Damage: +45% to +40%
      • Stun Damage: +45% to +40%
    • Tiger
      • Damage: +30% to +25%
      • Stun Damage: +30% to +25%
    • Point Down
      • Damage: +30% to +25%
      • Stamina Cost: -30% to -25%
      • Retreating Penalty: -10% to -13%
      • Opponent Damage: +15% to +12.5%
      • Opponent Stamina Cost: -15% to -12.5%
      • Opponent Retreating Penalty: -10% to -13%
    • Electric Eel
      • Stand Up Damage: +35% to +25%
      • Clinch Damage: +35% to +25%
    • [Dev Insight] These were all cases of fighters being able to apply damage bonuses multiple times within combos, leading to easy ways to achieve big rewards.
  • Fixed an issue that caused the Featherstep Base Effect to be higher than intended.
    • Now, fighters with the Featherstep Perk won’t be able to retreat so quickly. The bonus shall correctly match the value listed in the Training Manual (+5%).
  • Fixed an issue that caused stamina to regenerate during Submission Struggles, when the Last Stand Flow State was active.
    • Now, the Stamina regeneration bonus will not apply during the Struggle.

OTHER GAMEPLAY UPDATES & FIXES

  • Fixed an issue that prevented the Push action from being used.
  • Improved the fluidity of head movement animations.
    • This is meant to prevent fighters from appearing to sway twice when they sway only once. The issue primarily affected ducking but could also affect other sway directions.
  • Fixed an animation issue with the Backpack position.
  • Improved Moves for Dominick Cruz:
    • Added New Signature Long Rear Overhand
    • Assigned Long Lead Overhand
  • Fixed an issue that caused camera shake to stop working after the first match in online game modes.

COMMUNITY FEEDBACK AND WHAT’S NEXT

Please note that the items listed below will not be included in this update

These are previews of future updates currently in development and remain subject to change. Additional updates may be added, adjusted, or removed before they go live.

Stay tuned to the official EA SPORTS UFC 6 social channels for the latest news and announcements.

FIGHTER REACH UPDATE

A key factor in some fighters' overperformance is their reach. We don't want to make a longer reach matter less, as we see that it contributes to fighter individuality and range management in a fun way. We also don't want to compensate for it with a speed penalty, like in UFC 3 and UFC 4.

We already include a subtle mechanic that allows shorter fighters to deal more damage in stand-up exchanges. We’re making this effect more direct and impactful, giving shorter fighters, who are often more powerful and muscular for their weight class, a more meaningful advantage at close range.

This allows us to improve balance without reducing the reach or speed of taller fighters, preserving fighter individuality while encouraging a wider variety of viable fighter choices.

MOVE SETS UPDATE

We’re updating several fighter-specific strike animations across the roster to better represent each fighter's real-world fighting style. These changes will improve fighter authenticity. The updates will mostly affect the animation assignments for hooks and roundhouses.

FLYING TRIANGLE DENIAL WINDOW FIX

There is a bug causing the Flying Triangle denial window to be much shorter than intended. This fix is presently being tested and is expected to be implemented in a future update.

OVER UNDER ENTRY RANGE FIX

We are aware of a bug that can cause the Over Under clinch range entry to be unreasonably extended. We are investigating the issue, and this remains a high-priority fix that will be implemented in a future update.

GROUND GAME RESPONSIVENESS FIX

We are also actively investigating reported issues where fighters take too long to perform actions once they reach the ground, and we are looking into “hanging fakes,” which occur when players attempt to cancel a transition. Still, it takes too long to complete the cancel.

Fixes for these issues will require multiple updates due to their complexity. We will continue to keep you updated on our progress.

GROUND AND POUND DEFENSE UPDATE

As a defender during Ground and Pound, it is currently possible to attempt to evade a strike, expecting it to be a straight, and still block it when it turns out to be a hook. This tactic, often referred to as “Bobble-Heading” in the community, is more powerful than it should be. We are working on an update, and as this is a very complex issue, it is difficult to determine when it will be ready. Rest assured, though, we’re definitely aware of it, prioritizing this update, and will keep you updated on our progress.

GENERAL CONNECTIVITY

We are aware that connectivity-related issues during online matches are another notable topic of discussion within the UFC 6 community. We are taking reports of momentary “slowdowns” and “freezes” very seriously and are actively investigating ways to improve the online infrastructure to mitigate these issues and enhance the overall multiplayer experience in UFC 6.

This will also be a multi-update process, one that may not be ready for implementation in the next patch just yet. We will continue to keep you updated through blogs like this and the official UFC 6 social channels.

Thanks again for continuing to play and help shape the UFC 6 experience. We’ll continue monitoring gameplay, reviewing your comments, and making updates that improve gameplay balance and overall feel. Keep the discussions going, and we’ll see you in the Octagon.
