It’s Tokyo 2021, and Christine Sinclair, international football’s all-time leading scorer, is striding towards gold. During the tournament, she would make a landmark 300th appearance for Canada and score her 187th goal.

Sinclair became the beating heart of Canadian football. A prolific forward with remarkable longevity, she ended her international career as the all-time leading scorer in women’s international football and the second-most capped player in the game’s history. At club level, she starred for Portland Thorns, winning NWSL Championships in 2013, 2017, and 2022.

A record-breaker joins the ranks as an ICON in EA SPORTS FC™ 27.

Ellen White celebrates netting one of six first-half England goals in an 8-0 victory over Norway at UEFA Women’s EURO 2022. The Lionesses’ record goalscorer led the line throughout the tournament, culminating in a 2-1 victory over Germany in the final.

White’s instinctive finishing, intelligent movement, and relentless energy made her a focal point of the Lionesses’ attack. She retired as England women’s all-time leading scorer, while at club level she collected silverware with Arsenal and Manchester City.

Beijing, 2008. Formiga celebrates firing Brazil level in their semi-final against Germany. It’s a defining moment in an international career that would span a remarkable 26 years before she finally called time in 2021.

Formiga’s stamina, competitive fire, and love of the game powered an extraordinary career spanning seven editions of football’s biggest international tournament. A tireless midfielder, she helped Brazil reach the 2007 final and claim Olympic silver medals in 2004 and 2008. Her remarkable longevity at the highest level became a symbol of dedication, inspiring generations of players in Brazil and beyond.

A symbol of legacy, leadership, and longevity, Formiga steps back onto the pitch as an ICON in EA SPORTS FC™ 27.

It’s 2003 and Hege Riise launches another attack for the Carolina Courage. It’s a familiar sight from a midfielder who inspired Norway to global glory in 1995, earning the Golden Ball for her performances along the way.

Riise combined vision and authority to help lead Norway through a golden era. She was instrumental in their European triumph in 1993 and success on the world stage two years later, dictating play with composure and intelligence. Olympic gold in 2000 added another major honour to a remarkable international career and cemented her place among midfield greats.

Riise’s exceptional career earns her a place in the ICON Class of ’27.

October, 1980. The ball finds FC Bayern forward Karl-Heinz Rummenigge in the box, surrounded by Bochum defenders. Three juggles and an acrobatic volleyed lob later, the Bundesliga has a legendary Goal of the Year. One of many spectacular strikes, it showcases the technical brilliance and finishing that Rummenigge brings to the ICON lineup in EA SPORTS FC™ 27.

Throughout his career, Rummenigge blended elegance with ruthless efficiency. A defining figure for FC Bayern, he won two European Cups before helping the club claim back-to-back Bundesliga titles in 1979/80 and 1980/81. Twice crowned Ballon d’Or winner, his intelligent movement and clinical finishing made him one of Europe’s most feared forwards. With Germany, he lifted the UEFA EURO trophy in 1980 and reached two finals on the biggest international stage.
