This Evolution adds to the existing FC 27 Club Member rewards available since FC 27’s launch, including Red Bull-branded kits and crests in Football Ultimate Team™, an AXP multiplier in The Grounds**, and Gareth Bale in Manager Career and Player Career.

Chelsea supporters and the Brazilian football community know David Luiz’ contributions to FC Heritage well, but for those in need of a Hall of FUT history lesson - and more importantly, how to complete the new Evolution - we have you covered:

How to Complete the Evolution

In order to complete this Evolution (found in the “Rewards” section of the Evolution menu), you must first choose an eligible Player Item. As a reminder, when you submit a Player Item to an Evolution, it becomes untradable while the Evolution is applied. While the Evolution is in progress, you can’t discard the Player Item nor use it in Squad Building Challenges (SBCs).

After choosing an eligible Player Item, select your initial pathway. You can change the pathway at any time before claiming an Evolution level, including when claiming the level. What does each Pathway provide? A representation of David Luiz full Hall of FUT legacy through attribute upgrades for your Player Item, all of which reflect some of his greatest moments on the pitch.

Path 1: The Finisher

David Luiz was an anchor for Brazil’s National team in over 50 competitions, including in the Summer of 2014.

His shining moment came in a pivotal match against Colombia. Already up 1-0 in the 68th minute, Luiz placed a knuckleball free-kick right into the back of the net, which proved to be the difference-maker in a 2-1 victory. He was named captain in Brazil’s next match due to a suspended teammate, where he motivated the likes of current ICONs Marcelo and Maicon on the backline, as well as fellow Hall of FUT member Hulk up in the attacking third.

Choosing this path for your eligible Player Item leans into this facet of Luiz’ legacy as a set-piece master, such as with Shooting, FK Accuracy, Shot Power, Long Shots, and the Dead Ball PlayStyle.

Path 2: The Champion

May 19, 2012. Chelsea FC vs. Bayern Munich in the UEFA Champions League Final.

Managing the recovery from a torn hamstring injury, Luiz started for a Chelsea squad that featured current FC 27 ICONs Frank Lampard in midfield, Ashley Cole at left back, Didier Drogba as the lone striker, and Petr Čech in goal. Tasked at fending off a Hero in Mario Gomez and ICONs in Franck Ribéry, Toni Kroos, Phillip Lahm, Bastien Schweinsteiger (a new ICON for FC 27!), and a Thomas Müller in his prime, Luiz played the full 90 minutes with both periods of extra time.

Then it all came down to penalties. Among the four scored for Chelsea, Luiz rocketed one into the top-right corner past the legendary Manuel Neuer, ultimately leading to the club’s first-ever Champions League title.

Choose this path for your Player Item if you wish for them to emulate a composed, all-around centreback with a championship mentality. Expect this pathway to include attribute upgrades to Defending, Physical, Passing, and Penalties up to various caps, as well as a Defensive PlayStyle.

Path 3: A National Hero

After spending 15 years in Europe, Luiz returned home to Brazil by signing with CR Flamengo, making an immediate impact by playing back-to-back Copa Libertadores Finals.

Luiz and his Flamengo squadmates were unsuccessful in 2021 despite logging 120 minutes in a starting role. One year later, his performance contributed greatly to Flamengo’s 1-0 finals victory, becoming the 12th-ever player to win a Champions League and a Copa Libertadores Final. His tenure at Flamengo ended with an impressive 75-28-29 record.

As he continues the twilight of his career, this chapter was defined by aggressive ball-playing action. Choose this path for your Player Item if you’re interested in earning them Pace, Physical, Passing, and Aggression attributes upgrades, as well as a build-up PlayStyle.

Three Quick Tips

CHOOSE YOUR PATH. Up until you claim a level, you can swap your Evolution Pathway at any time.
PREVIEW THE PATH AHEAD. Before committing to this Evolution, use the Evolution Chain Preview to see how you can potentially further evolve your Player Item.
MIND THE CAPS. Evolution upgrades are capped to a maximum value. Knowing your Player Item’s base attributes is key to understanding the full extent of how the Evolution affects them.
