Day 1 of CONMEBOL eLibertadores certainly lived up to expectations, as fans witnessed plenty of goals and thrilling games throughout this year’s tournament.
With a chance to win $35,000 in prize pool money and lock in a highly coveted spot in the FC Pro World Championship, the likes of Resende, NathanSR22, and the other FC Pro Players were all on their A-game.
We’ve picked out three things that stood out to us from Day 1 of this exciting event.
Comeback season

When you’ve got a tournament that promises as many goals as the CONMEBOL eLibertadores, then there’s a strong chance that there will be a few come-from-behind victories. Luckily for everyone watching, that’s exactly what we got as there were plenty of thrilling fight backs.
Whether it was Giuliano20013 silencing the crowd with a last-minute winner in his comeback win against GabrielPN or Sebaluoni roaring back from 2-0 down to defeat FacuCowen 4-3, the action from CONMEBOL eLibertadores was full throttle from the very beginning.
Resende’s unbreakable defense

We know that South American FC Pro players are known for playing an all offensive style, but Resende bucked the trend by combining a ruthless attack with rock solid defending.
Seven goals and zero conceded is practically unheard of in the CONMEBOL eLibertadores, which is why many believe that the Brazilian is the biggest favourite heading into Day 2. However, he’ll face incredible stiff competition that will threaten his chances of walking away with the trophy.

Despite being a relative unknown coming into Day 1 of CONMEBOL eLibertadores, Gercrack30 was successful in making a name for himself with some great attacking play.
His impressive 6-4 victory over veteran FC player GabrielPN came as a shock to most, as the 18-year-old Colombian put his opponent under massive amounts of pressure with wave after wave of attacks.
The 18-year-old Colombian failed to win his next two matches against Resende and Giuliano2001 and is out of the tournament, but showed the sort of potential that makes us think that this won’t be the last time we hear from him.
