Hailing from Denmark, Marcus “Marcuzo” Jørgensen has proven himself as one of the most consistent FIFA competitors in the world. Now defending the Manchester City colours, the Dane speaks to EA SPORTS about his competitive year, his close relationship with Agge Rosenmeier and his objectives going into the FIFA eWorld Cup Grand Final in early August.

• How do you feel your competitive season went? Looking back on the year, I’d say it’s been a positive one for me. I was frustrated in Barcelona, where I played really well in the group stage but fell short in the knockouts. It was similar in Manchester, but at the Playoffs in Amsterdam, I finally got to show what I am about. It was the perfect time to put in my best performance of the year. Now I’ve qualified for the eWorld Cup two years in a row!
• What are your goals going into the FIFA eWorld Cup Grand Final? My goal is to win the whole thing, but I know it’s going to be a very tough task. There are so many top players on both consoles, and when it’s knockout FIFA, anything can happen.
• Who is the rival you are most looking forward to playing against in London? I’m really looking forward to facing one of my best mates outside of FIFA, Agge. The other big games will be against my knockout round opponents from Amsterdam – Andoni from Spain and Damie from Roma Fnatic. They will want their revenge, and I can’t let them have it!

• You said that Agge is one of your best mates, what will it be like to face him on such a big stage? To face August at the eWorld Cup, along with the best players in the world…it’s going to be a very special moment for me. Agge was essentially the reason why I started playing FIFA competitively, and to face him now on the big stage shows how far we’ve come. We’re best friends off the pitch but as soon as the game starts, we’ll both do everything we can to win.
• You represent Manchester City. Is there added pressure on you when you are playing for one of the biggest clubs in the world? Actually, the most pressure I feel is the pressure I put on myself. I’ve always expected a lot of myself, because I know how good I can be when I play my best. Of course the expectations are higher when you’re representing one of the biggest clubs in the world, but I try to enjoy it. It’s a huge honour to represent Manchester City, and it’s something I’m very proud of.
• How has signing for Manchester City helped you further and improve your career? Joining City was a dream come true. The level of support here, and the facilities City have over in Manchester have helped me take my game to the next level. Being part of the City Football team – working with Chris (New York City) and Marcus (Melbourne City) and of course Deto – has also been awesome. And I’m sure there’s more to come!
• You have been able to be one of the best players in the world for several years. What is your key to maintaining consistency in the challenging FIFA pro scene? It’s a difficult question to answer, because I think there a several factors. But I’d say that aiming to be the best at FIFA is similar to other top-level sport: it’s about combining your natural talent with hard work and a strong mental attitude. Get that right and you have a good shot of reaching the top.
