Pitch Notes: Introduction to Patch Notes

We hope everyone is enjoying their first few hours and days with FIFA 19. As we get into post-launch support, we wanted to address some key highlights from our first patch, and give some insight into these changes and what to expect on patch information moving forward into the FIFA 19 season.

The latest title update is now available for all PC players, and it is slated to arrive on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 in the near future.

GAMEPLAY

First off, we wanted to address gameplay. Due to significant community feedback stemming from FIFA 18 and early into FIFA 19, the gameplay team is limiting changes to gameplay in the initial stages of release. The idea here is to only make targeted fixes in an effort to keep the overall balance and feel of the game consistent, while we continue to gather in-depth feedback from our passionate players. In short, we want players to learn the systems.

While this is an initial theme, we do not want our players feeling like we aren't addressing feedback or taking action regarding concerns from our player base. We don't want FIFA 19 to get drastic changes, but we are absolutely monitoring for bugs or tuning that needs to be addressed in future patches.

With that said, one key fix in this particular patch is in regards to when players are anticipating a regular shot (laced) outside of the box and are seeing side-foot animations/shots instead — this has been addressed. The gameplay team has also fixed an issue where the power bar for free kicks in online matches were sometimes incorrectly going to 100% shot power when the player requested less.

TRAITS

We have published a Pitch Notes article that covers Traits in FIFA 19 on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC HERE

We have also addressed the following Traits issues with this patch:

  • Some Traits that no longer had any functionality in gameplay were still displaying in the Front End.
  • Some Traits that did have functionality in gameplay were not displaying in the Front End.
  • Added (CPU AI-controlled players only) to the names of Traits that only have an effect on players when they are controlled by the CPU AI.
    • A refresher on what we mean by “CPU AI.”
      • The CPU plays the game as you would, limited by the same input restrictions that a human player is.
      • This means that the CPU team has an active player, just like you do, which we call the CPU AI-controlled player.
      • A CPU AI-controlled player exists in the following circumstances:
        • On a team with no human players.
          • For example, the CPU-controlled team in Squad Battles.
        • On a team with human players who are all locked to specific players, that also has CPU teammates.
          • For example, a Pro Clubs team, with less than 11 human players, with no “ANY” player.
        • A CPU AI-controlled player does not exist in the following circumstances:
          • On a team with human players who are not locked to specific players.
            • For example, a team in FUT Champions.

OTHER TOP ADDITIONS AND FIXES

  • We've added authentic UEFA Super Cup overlay packages to the game. Check out some screens:
  • For those of you who sent in feedback regarding the wrong portion of the Champions League anthem playing during player lineups, the issue has been fixed.
  • We've addressed a bug that showed Neymar's name only displaying as “Jr.” in some screens.

There is plenty more information in the patch, and you can find all of our detailed patch notes HERE

Thank you all so much for your continued feedback on FIFA 19 thus far, and we look forward to an excellent year with the community.
