FIFA Ultimate Team - Team of the Season - La Liga
Each week FIFA Ultimate Team assembles the best players from international and club competition around the world and rewards them as part of our Team of the Week. Now, we celebrate the best players from club competition based on their performances during the course of the 2013-14 season.
This edition features the best players from Spain’s La Liga.
What an incredible season for Atlético de Madrid as they managed to beat the odds and win their first La Liga title since 1996. Six members of the team are featured on our squad, including 22 year-old goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois and defenders Filipe Luís, Diego Godín and Juanfran. This should not come as any surprise as Courtois finished the season with 20 clean sheets while the club only conceded 26 goals.
The other club from Madrid dominated the midfield, with the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Luka Modrić, Gareth Bale and Ángel Di María all making the Starting XI. For Bale, his first season with Real Madrid was incredible, finishing with 15 goals and 12 assists. Meanwhile, teammate Cristiano Ronaldo’s 31 goals in 31 matches was enough to finish the season as the league’s top scorer.
While FC Barcelona ended the season with three straight draws and were unable to reclaim the league title, it was still a productive season for their talisman Lionel Messi. In 31 league matches, he managed to score 28 goals and earn 11 assists.
