Thorin’s Company Month!

Unexpected Adventure and Dwarves awaits!

Dhe nathlof hi / Greetings Ring-bearers,

One of the most famous and beloved of Dwarves, Thorin Oakenshield, and his company of fellow Dwarf (and Hobbit!) adventurers are immortalized in The Hobbit. Their quest to reclaim Erebor, also known as the Lonely Mountain, not only changes the lives of Thorin and his company but also the course of history of Middle-earth, culminating in the Battle of the Five Armies.

This coming month we bring these iconic characters from lore to The Lord of the Rings: Heroes of Middle-earth™, beginning with our next Legendary character, Thorin Oakenshield, himself. Other beloved characters include Bombur and Bilbo Baggins! We meet our company at the beginning of their journey as they set out from The Shire to the Lonely Mountain.

"Then they hung up two yellow hoods and a pale green one; and also a sky blue one with a long silver tassel. This last belonged to Thorin, an enormously important dwarf, in fact no other than the great Thorin Oakenshield himself." - The Hobbit.

Son of Thráin II, grandson of King Thrór, and King of Durin’s Folk. There was no finer Dwarf leader or fighter than Thorin Oakenshield, having been at The Battle of Azanulbizar which resulted in exile, and then leading the expedition to reclaim the Lonely Mountain from the terrible dragon Smaug. Forever the rightful King under the Mountain.

“The only scrap of comfort there was, came unexpectedly from Bombur. He woke up suddenly and sat up scratching his head. He could not make out where he was at all, nor why he felt so hungry; for he had forgotten everything that had happened since they started their journey that May morning long ago. The last thing that he remembered was the party at the hobbit's house, and they had great difficulty in making him believe their tale of all the many adventures they had had since.” - The Hobbit.

A member of Thorin’s Company, we first meet Bombur as he tumbled into Bag End. While not a descendant of Durin’s line like Thorin and others, he was descended from the Dwarves of Moria and was no less as determined and capable as his companions. A renowned deep sleeper throughout the adventure, Bombur nonetheless continued on and later survived the Battle of the Five Armies and made Erebor his home.

"Sorry! I don’t want any adventures, thank you. Not Today. Good morning! But please come to tea – any time you like! Why not tomorrow? Good bye!" - The Hobbit.

Once a content Hobbit with no thoughts of adventure or Dwarves, Bilbo Baggins is one of the most memorable heroes of Middle-earth, and one of the most important in its history. Bilbo was swept up by Gandalf the Grey and the company of Thorin Oakenshield as their contract burglar and companion. His actions along the way forever make him a beloved friend of Dwarves.

As usual, players will be able to check out the character kits for Thorin Oakenshield, Bombur and Bilbo Baggins soon, alongside their Adventure details. Stay tuned for this and more coming to The Lord of the Rings: Heroes of Middle-earth™!
