The launch of Madden NFL 19 is right around the corner, but we couldn’t wait to share some news for Madden Ultimate Team.
Grinding for MUT Master is one of the longer journeys you get to tackle every year at launch. It’s exciting to share your own personal progress with your friends while you chase down the highest OVR available.
Another aspect that makes MUT Master so intriguing is who you’re actually grinding for. This year, we are thrilled to announce that Pittsburgh Steelers’ MLB Ryan Shazier will be your MUT Master. Shazier has always been a favorite in the MUT community, and we are still in awe over the courage and strength Ryan demonstrates on a daily basis (and congratulations on the new baby announcement, Ryan).
This year we built upon MUT Master from a year ago. It will again be done through an Objectives List, but there are some notable changes. The first change comes from the fact that MUT Master will be an upgradable player, and you’ll receive his “base” version pretty early on in your MUT experience. From there, start knocking out the remaining Objective Tasks and most of those will reward you a MUT Master Upgrade Token. Put those Tokens into Shazier’s upgrade path to start improving him. The tasks you’ll need to complete to earn MUT Master Upgrade Tokens include:
There are 10 other Objective Tasks, and that’s where the second major change is this year. In the past, players have felt like they were forced to play MUT a certain way just to obtain MUT Master. Sometimes, those are experiences that are just not suited for your individual play style, so we wanted to offer some choice. This year, you will have the option to either beat 500 individual Solos or 125 Multiplayer games in order to fully max out MUT Master Shazier. And, of course, if you decide to do both and complete the entire list, there’s an additional 500,000 Coins waiting for you.
The final 10 Objective Tasks are broken into five Solo and five Multiplayer. You’ll notice that there is a four Solo to one Multiplayer win ratio and that each level of wins gives you the same collectible needed to finish the last five upgrade tiers for MUT Master. While, yes, you will have five extra collectibles if you do everything, it does provide the flexibility to earn Shazier the way that makes the most sense for you. Last thing to note is that you will likely earn these collectibles before finishing the rest of the Objectives List. These collectibles can only be used when all of the previous upgrade tiers (which require the MUT Master Upgrade Token) are completed. The final Objective Tasks include:
Finally, the entire time you are grinding for MUT Master, you also have the opportunity to earn additional Coins by recording stats while using any OVR version of MUT Master Shazier. This is a second Objectives List and those tasks breakdown like this (note that you’ll receive an additional 250,000 Coins for completing the entire MUT Master Stats Objective List):
