Eco Workshop Venue FAQ

Read all about how to upcycle with Knox at the Eco Workshop Venue!

Sul sul,

In our latest update, we’re excited to introduce a new gameplay feature called Eco Workshop, where you can work with Knox from Evergreen Harbor to upcycle and restore items to give them a new lease on life. To help make sure you can hit the ground running, our game team have put together this FAQ.

Overview

Q – What is the new Eco Workshop feature all about?

Introducing a new community workshop in Parkside that takes old, unfashionable and outdated items and lets you restore them into new, repurposed things and take them home for your Sims! The developers of The Sims Mobile receive requests every day to re-run old events for you to have the opportunity to get your hands-on exclusive items. Now, you will no longer have to wonder when that will ever happen, because they’ll appear in the Eco Workshop for you to craft!

Q – How do I get access to unlock the venue?

If you’re a first-time player, you need to complete the tutorial after installing The Sims Mobile and be up to Level 9. Visit the Parkside area by clicking the Town navigation icon and click the Eco Workshop to unlock it for 12,000 Simoleons. There is no timer to wait for it to unlock!

Q – Can I recycle items from my inventory that I already own at the Workshop?

Not at this stage, however the Eco Workshop is designed to give you the opportunity to obtain old items from past events and make them new again!

Q – What items will be available for me to upcycle, restore and give a new lease on life?

Currently, we have the following content available to craft in the Eco Workshop. If you’ve already unlocked the content from the below events and packs, these will not resurface and become available to you again. The crafting rewards are categorized as common and rare which each have varying amounts of required crafting resources. A rare item is defined by the amount of difficulty of obtaining a specific item from their previous live event.

Live Events

  • World of Luxury
  • Backyard BBQ
  • Halloween (excluding all of the pumpkin and gravestone prizes!)
  • Harvestfest
  • Winterfest
  • Valentine’s Day
  • Anniversary

Limited Time Offers

  • Royal Flush Bathroom Collection

The following content will also be available amongst other new items every week, if you've already got everything the Eco Workshop has to offer:

  • Crown Jewel (excluding the bonus item)
  • The Griddler (excluding the bonus item)
  • Toasty and Cozy
  • Monarch (excluding the bonus item)
  • Rustic Relaxation
  • Country Accents (excluding the bonus item)
  • Fancy Abbey (excluding the bonus item)

Q – Will there be exclusive items that are only available to earn through the Eco Workshop?

Not at this stage, but we'll be adding dozens of new items along the way!

Q – These items all sound great! How do I craft these projects that are available every week?

Its time to send your Sims to work a shift at the Eco Workshop, and see what projects are available to craft this week. The projects refresh every Monday so there is always something new to look forward to obtaining.

Workshop Shifts

Make your way to the Workbench in the Eco Workshop to commence a shift and start earning materials. Each day, the available materials will change.  You can unlock one swatch of an item, and then the other variants automatically become unlocked and purchasable with Simoleons.

You’ll see your progress earning materials as you deposit them on the completion of your shifts.

Q – How long do Workshop shifts go for?

Shifts take eight hours to complete but you can speed this up by using Cupcakes or SimCash. There is a 4 hour cooldown after each shift. Cupcakes will also provide you with miscellaneous bonus rewards!

As you gradually upgrade your workshop, the shift duration gets shorter, so you’ll finish faster. More details on this later!

Q – Can I use multiple Sims to complete Workshop shifts faster and earn more materials?

There’s only so much room in the Eco Workshop, so only 1 Sim at a time will be able to participate in a Workshop Shift. But the Eco Workshop is for the entire community, so any of your Sims can work there!

Q – Are workshop shifts boosted by any Sim Traits?

The Good Upbringing trait will work on Workshop shifts like they would any other career event.

Crafting Materials

Q – How many days do I have to complete a project?

You have seven days to complete a craft project.  Each week the prizes change on Monday and refresh every Sunday night at midnight. Once you’ve committed your resources to crafting an item, you run the risk of losing them at the end of the week if you don’t complete the project!

Q – What happens if I come up short of nuts & bolts, thread and tape and the conclusion of my crafting projects and can’t redeem the prize I was working towards?

If you’re running hot by Sunday towards crafting an item you’ve been working towards, Knox is available anytime as a helping hand to complete it so you don’t lose your resources at the beginning of the following week. However, if you have left over crafting materials that arent deposited to a project at the end of the week, these rollover into the next week when the items change on Monday.

Q – What if I have lots of some materials and only need tape to complete a project?

The types of resources available vary every day, so be sure to check back in on the day you need the type of resources you’re after! The amount of materials you can store is capped, so you have to commit them to a project in order to craft more to progress. You can earn random resources from other events!

Upgrading the Workshop – Recycle Tokens

You can work towards upgrading your own Eco Workshop! As you upgrade, the interior and exterior of the venue transform from a basic shipping container-style space to a sustainable, architecturally stunning learning space for the whole community to enjoy!

Q – Do I have to upgrade the workshop? How many upgrade levels are there? What are the benefits?

There is no rush to upgrade your Eco Workshop – it’s a permanent new venue in Parkside and will always be there! As you progress through each Upgrade Phase, your Sims will get access to more workstation types that help Sims learn new skills that vary from sewing, soldering, repairing, studying, presenting and more, to help spread positive environmental messages. These all have actions assigned to them, giving you event points for the energy you spend doing these actions.

There are 7 stages of upgrades as you progress over time. You won’t be able to make changes to the layout of the workshop, but when you fully complete your upgrades, you’ll receive an ‘Eco-Hero’ Trophy – put it on display it at your next party so everyone knows you’re an eco-activist!

Q – What’s the quickest way for me to upgrade the workshop?

Completing LlamaZoom events is the only way to earn Recycle Tokens. The amount of tokens will scale as your player level gets higher. Upgrading the workshop allows you to earn more materials and store more of them. It will also reduce the amount of time it takes to complete a workshop shift! Upgrades are currently not connected to Lifestyle Score.
