Fresh Faces Intern Series – Sabashan Ragavan

EA Staff

Read about our new interns getting their start in video games with EA!

Have you ever wanted to work in video games? Many EA interns go on to grow their careers at EA, and EA offers our interns the opportunity to win a scholarship to assist with the financial impact of their university studies.

We’ll be looking at a few new faces that have recently won EA intern scholarships in this series.

What were you doing when you found out you would be receiving a scholarship?

I was studying in the library for my upcoming exams. When I got the news I got so excited, I almost got kicked out of the library.

What are you working on at EA?

I had done two internships at EA. The first was working on a mobile game for both Android and iOS in EA Montreal. The second was working on an internal Demo Application for the EADP-Developer Relations team.

How did you first get interested in videogames?

I first got into video games when I got an Nintendo 64 console. I soon bought Super Smash Brothers for the console and could not put the controllers down.

What have you had the most fun doing at EA?

Working on actually meaningful and rewarding projects.

Do you have any advice for someone looking to break into the industry?

My advice for someone trying to break into the industry is to keep working hard and refine your skills as much as you can. Try to make meaningful connections as well, which really helps get your foot in the door.

If you weren’t working in videogames, what would you be doing?

If I wasn’t working in videogames I would most likely still be in the software development industry. I have a passion for all things tech and working on meaningful things.

What do you hope to be working on in ten years?

I hope to be working on something which I can tell people thirty years from now I worked on and be proud that I had. I hope that ten years from now I can wake up each morning and know that I am doing something meaningful.

Lightning round: One-word answers, please. Favorite videogame of all time?

Kingdom Hearts.

What do you do after work to relax or de-stress?

Where did you go to school?

University of Waterloo.

What is your gaming platform of choice?

What is the first game you remember playing?

Super Mario World.
