Sul Sul!
Welcome to the Gap Year series! Three adventurous updates that will take your Sims off the beaten path and into brand-new destinations. Starting with Roads Less Traveled, your Sims will journey through spooky roadside stops and eerie detours, before the series continues on to festive celebrations and faraway explorations. Each update opens the door to new stories, new styles, and new settings, giving your Sims the chance to experience the world in ways they never have before. Buckle up, because every stop along this Gap Year is one you won’t want to miss.
The Gap Year series gets rolling with a few spooky surprises…
Get ready for detours… because our Gap Year series kicks off with Roads Less Traveled. This isn’t your average drive; it’s a classic road trip with a spooky-season twist. From haunted manors that whisper on the hill, to eerie puppetmasters pulling strings, to raccoons running wild behind roadside diners, even Grim has picked up a curious new side hustle. Every stop on this journey promises a story worth telling, with just the right amount of chaos along the way.
New in This Update: Daily Tasks
But before we hit the road, we’re adding something new to make growing your SimTown even easier: Daily Tasks! Each day, you’ll get a list of nine quick tasks pulled from across the game. They help take out the guesswork of what to do next and reward you with XP so you can level up and grow your SimTown faster.
Look for the Freezer Bunny icon on the left side of your screen; it will open a list of nine tasks that refresh every day. Once you’ve chosen a task to complete, tap on the tile for additional information or to be taken to the task location. Each task uses one or two Sims and is pulled from Quests, Hobbies, the Community Market, and any unfinished Districts. Every task completed helps move your town forward, one step at a time.
We have also adjusted level progression, so it feels smoother and more rewarding. The total XP needed to level up has been lowered, and you’ll earn more XP from completing Daily Tasks. These changes help to address a pinch point that players have told us can feel like a grind when trying to level up, freeing up more of your Sims to build, create, or tackle other progression goals.
Finish all nine before 10 a.m. local time to earn Mystery Box Keys and XP. Complete all your tasks two days in a row to start a streak that increases your rewards for each consecutive day you finish during the week. Use your keys to open themed boxes filled with rewards. The Mystery Box themes range from in-game currency to items so choose the one that matters most to you and your Sims.
A gift for the journey…
The open road calls for style that can keep up with spooky stops and diner detours. This update allows your Sims to slip into a ruffled gingham dress and sturdy boots — perfect for twirling through haunted manors, strolling past gravestones, or shooing raccoons from the dumpster.
Four variants will arrive in your inbox during the first week. Each outfit will only stick around for 48 hours before the next one takes its place, so don’t miss your chance to collect them all. Piece by piece, your Sims will be ready for every adventure this road trip throws their way.
Here’s what’s waiting on the road…
Craft Challenge: Haunting of Goth House
At the edge of town, the old Goth Manor looms, its halls filled with whispers and shadowy secrets. Among its crumbling stones lie gravestones where Sims now pause to mourn and lay flowers, a quiet moment amid the eerie atmosphere. Step inside to uncover fortunes at candlelit tables and discover a slithering companion or two in the corners. It’s a house that begs to be restored… if your Sims are brave enough to take it on.
Influence Island: A Haunt to Remember
Something strange has swept through this small town; neighbors wandering aimlessly, dressed in costumes, moving as if under a spell. At the center of it all is the mysterious Puppetmaster claiming to pull the strings. Among eerie graveyards and haunted gatherings, your Sims must charm, outwit, and influence their way through the madness to restore order. Can they break the Puppetmaster’s hold, or will the costumes and chaos become permanent?
Influence Island: Grim’s Ghastly Goods
Grim has traded his scythe for a side hustle, and it’s not exactly glamorous. He’s set up a roadside shop stocked with odd treats from the underworld decked out with verandas and a beat-up pickup parked out front. But Grim’s temper is as short as his vending machines are frustrating, so helping him keep customers happy won’t be easy. Still, it’s all part of the fun on this most unusual pit stop.
SimChase: The Ringtail Diner
Every good road trip needs a diner pit stop: coffee, jukebox tunes, maybe a milkshake or two. But this one comes with trouble. Your rival, Ricky Raccoon, is on the loose and tearing up the dumpsters out back. It’s a race to chase him down before he trashes the booths and jukebox. Keep your ears open though.... if you investigate the noise carefully, you might even catch a glimpse of a real raccoon stirring up mischief.
Other Stops Along the Road
Influence Island: No Country for Outlaws
Dust off your fightin’ boots, the outlaws are back, and they’ve set up camp. These rough riders don’t take kindly to outsiders, so your Sims will need grit, charm, and maybe a little intimidation to win back the Sandy Saloon prize lot. Saddle up for some classic cowboy-core drama, and a squabble or two.
Influence Island: The Rent Race
Looking for a place to live in SimTown should be simple… but not when Elise Deplace is around. She’s at it again, sabotaging every application your Sims put in, just to snag the perfect pad for herself. Can your Sims out-charm Elise and finally claim the keys to a dream home?
SimChase: Greasy Deals
The slick salesman Lyle Scamley has rolled into town with “too good to be true” car prices, and your Sims know a scam when they see one. It’s time to grab the wrench, chase him down, and make a monkey out of Lyle before he speeds off with their hard-earned Simoleons.
