Fairies Have Fluttered Into The Sims 4!
١٠ يوليو ٢٠٢٥
Om za gleb! Look up in the sky. It’s a bird. No, it’s a plane. No! It’s a flutter of Fairies!
Fairies have landed in The Sims 4, and we’re shimmering with excitement. From the early stages of development to their arrival in Innisgreen, Fairies have been a delight to create.
We spent quite some time ideating on the enchanting story of Fairies—a long-time request from the community. We focused on their lore, appearance, traits, and the vast custom features that’ll help create your unique Fairy, and we wanted to get it right. We’re thrilled to take you on our journey to bring them to the Enchanted by Nature Expansion Pack. We’ve even sprinkled in some tips and tricks that’ll make your Fairy gameplay even more magical!
A Warm Welcome From Mother Nature
To embark on the Fairy journey, Sims must first seek the help of Mother Nature. This powerful being has an unbreakable bond with Fairies, gifting them their magical abilities from the water of her Moondrop Springs. But that’s only just the beginning of their adventures.
These Fairies are vastly different from the ones we introduced in The Sims 3, which is evident in their wide array of new Abilities that focus on things like nature, emotion and even manipulation. Unlike the Fairies in The Sims 3, The Sims 4 Fairies aren’t only tricksters, but emotional beings that have a unique new Emotional Force need to survive, which can be gained from various sources, including bottled emotion potions and absorbing the emotions of other Sims. For example, a Fairy could use their ability to influence a Sims’ emotion, then bottle up said emotion and store it for a later date.
This leads us to the different Fairy Stories Aspirations, which gives Fairies the option to show off their sparkle in one of two ways. The Harmonious Fairy path is for Fairies with nurturing souls, who prefer to grow dreamlike gardens and awaken Gnomes to help with daily tasks, while the Discordant Fairy path is for playful Fairies who would rather stir up a little mischief, manipulating moods and causing curious Ailments.
Non-Fairy Sims can also sprinkle a little fun into their everyday lives with Fairy Dust. They can enchant plants to take care of their flora automatically or even awaken Gnomes to assist with household chores.
Home Sweet and Magical Home
Once Fairies have settled into Innisgreen–to sow wonder or cultivate chaos–they’ll need a home to rest their wings. You may remember that in The Sims 3, Fairies would transform into tiny glowing orbs to enter their tiny, humble abode. We wanted to improve on this part of their existence, just as we’ve done for many facets of their life in Enchanted by Nature. So now, Fairies will scale down to a pocket-sized version of themselves to enter their tiny fairy home!
We Didn’t Just Wing It
There are many ways one can customize their Fairy’s look, from ear shape to skin tone, but the one Fairy characteristic we’d like to dive into is their Wings.
In The Sims 3, fairy wings were visual effects that opened and closed in a regular rhythm, independently from body motion, and often clipped into things. For The Sims 4, we created fully animated wings to reflect gameplay and personality, resulting in:
- More believable wing motion that reflects the Fairy's body movements.
- Improved coordination between wings and body during locomotion, with distinct motions for hovering, flying, and gliding.
- Support for various walk styles, such as sad, angry or pregnant hovering.
- Emotional pairing, for example: desperate fluttering during their ultimate unfortunate event–death!
- Different wing motions for various wing shape archetypes, including graceful swooping for butterfly wings, and fast fluttering for dragonfly wings.
And that’s not all! Fairy wings come in a wide array of shapes, sizes and colors, from luxuriously large and iridescent, to spritely small and transparent.
Fairy customizations also include:
- 9 new skin tones
- 18 new eye colors
- 3 new pointed ear shapes
- 3 new fantastical nose shapes
- 2 new sets of teeth
- Glowing tattoos that illuminate at night
- Face paints and accessories
Sure, Fairies are full of magical powers, but for Simmers, the magic is in the making.
Create a Sim Additions
But wait! There’s more! Our team is excited to share new Create a Sim features for both Fairies and Non-Fairy Sims.
The new Head Decorations accessory category featured under Hats offers a trove of fun, new headwear options, allowing you to experiment with horns, antlers, headbands, and a leafy diadem and flower crown inspired by Fairies and living-in-nature gameplay. Similar to Hats, Head Decorations are placeable with any hairstyle, and color selection is independent of hair color.
Additionally, the Skin Highlight feature, found in the Body Accessories category under Skin Effects, adds a gloss to Sims’ faces and bodies. Fully customizable, the Skin Highlight works beautifully with all skin tones to create unique effects for different outfits.
The Sims 4 Enchanted by Nature Expansion Pack is now available for $39.99 for EA app, Epic Games Store and Steam®, PlayStation®5, PlayStation®4, Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One systems.
