Football Ultimate Team™

Based on your feedback, in FC 27, we’re taking a refreshed approach to how you build and progress your Football Ultimate Team™. We want to better preserve what makes your players unique on the pitch, have every match move your Club forward, and give you more flexibility over how to upgrade your squad.

Here are the three main ideas shaping our approach.

More Choice In How You Build Your Club: There are many ways to build your squad in FUT, and we want you to have more flexibility in deciding which ones work for you. That includes a greater focus on tradeable rewards and FUT Coins. It also means better balance across the various ways you earn upgrades, including SBCs, Evolutions, and Campaign upgrades, ensuring each system offers compelling upgrades.

Preserving What Makes Players Unique: We want the players you add to your Club to have more opportunities to play a meaningful role in your squad throughout the Season. In FC 27, we’re taking a more measured approach to how Items upgrade, with fewer Campaigns, smaller Campaign squads, and more targeted upgrades to Attributes and PlayStyles. Our aim is to better preserve the individual qualities that make each player feel distinct on the pitch.

Every Game Helps Move Your Club Forward: FUT is all about building your dream squad, and the matches you play should be an important part of that journey. In FC 27, increased FUT Coin rewards and Season Points from eligible matches mean playing games can contribute more directly to your Club’s progression.

More Control Over How You Build Your Club

Tradeability & the Transfer Market

In FC 27, a significantly higher proportion of rewards across Objectives, game modes, and other areas of FUT will be tradeable.

Alongside our wider approach to Special Items, which we’ll cover later in this Pitch Notes, this is intended to give you more flexibility when using the Transfer Market, making it easier to turn the rewards you earn into opportunities to build and improve your squad throughout the Season.

With more tradeable rewards, you’ll also have more flexibility in how you choose to upgrade your squad, whether that’s bidding on Player Items, completing Evolutions, accessing the Premium Pass, or saving toward something you want to add to your Club later in the Season.

Champions Token Rewards

Tokens were introduced in FUT 26 this summer to give you more choice over the rewards you play towards. Champions Tokens return in FC 27, allowing you to choose from different reward options based on what makes the most sense for your Club.

The Champions Token Store will also feature rewards specific to Champions, including Team of the Week Players with the exclusive Red Item design, Evolutions, and vanity rewards such as Celebrations.

TOTW Community Player

Team of the Week celebrates the players delivering standout performances across the world of football each week. In FC 27, we’re giving you a greater role in shaping who gets recognized.

During Season 1, the FC community will help to shape the selection of one player item in each of the first six Team of the Week squads. Starting 14 September, every player in the FC 27 Ratings Database is eligible to receive votes, so you can back the player you think deserves a place in the next TOTW.

A new voting period begins each Tuesday. You can vote for one player each week and change your selection at any time before voting closes each Monday at 11:59pm PT. You’ll need to log in to your EA Account to confirm your vote.

Community votes will help inform the final selection each week, with the selected player item featuring a Community Player marker in-game.

Balancing Packs and Store at Launch

As part of our broader approach to progression in EA SPORTS FC™ 27, we’re also making changes to the Store. Our intention for Store content is that it should be an optional complement to the rewards and progression available across FUT™, with playing the game remaining the cornerstone of how you build your Club.

From launch, we’re taking a more focused approach to Store content. You’ll see fewer promotional Pack offers available, alongside lower user limits on certain offers.

Combined with a series of additional changes to Store offer design, these changes are about ensuring your time on the pitch is always the most important way to build your squad.

Rarity & Pack Updates

With the removal of the distinction between Common and Rare players in FC 27, we want to make sure it remains clear what each Pack contains and what you can expect when opening them. As part of this, we’re updating how Packs are named and structured, with more consistent naming across base Packs and terms such as Mini, Small, Large, Jumbo, and Giant indicating Pack size.

While some Pack names and structures are changing as part of the Rarity refresh, our intent is for the overall Pack-opening experience to remain consistent year over year. As we outlined in our FUT Deep Dive, while Packs will no longer state a minimum number of Rare Items, the likelihood of receiving a base Player Item at OVR 82 and below is intended to remain consistent with what you would have found in similar Packs from FC 26.

EA SPORTS FC 27 "Rarity & Pack Changes" table showing pack quantifiers and item counts.

We’re also adjusting Quick Sell values to reflect the updated Rarity system. Player Item Quick Sell values will be more closely aligned with previous Rare Player Item values, while non-Player items will have more consistent Quick Sell values across Rarities.

Meaningful Player Items, Lasting Impact

Earning Player Items across FUT™

Squad Building Challenges, mode rewards, Evolutions, and the Transfer Market will all provide different ways to add engaging Player Items to your squad. Our goal is for these different paths to work together, giving you more choice in how you build your team and more reasons to engage with the parts of Football Ultimate Team™ you enjoy most.

In FC 27, we want every way of building your Club to feel viable and rewarding. However you choose to play, the time you put in should feel meaningful and help you build and improve your squad. By bringing the different ways you can progress closer together, our goal is to make sure you can keep playing the parts of Ultimate Team you enjoy while continuing to move your Club forward.

To support this multi-path approach and give every Item more ability to feel impactful, here is how item progression will feel different in FC 27:

  • Steadier Upgrade Pacing Across All Content: Our goal is for the Player Items you add to your Club, whether from SBCs, Evolutions, mode rewards, or Campaigns, to stay in your squad for longer. To enable this, we’re establishing a more gradual upgrade pacing across the year by reducing the maximum number of PlayStyles+ from five to three and reducing the attribute increases between Campaigns.
  • Greater Squad-Building Flexibility: To give you the freedom to fit players earned from any path into your preferred style of play, all Campaign Player Items will launch with all of their position’s Roles++ unlocked, making squad-building more flexible across different formations and playstyles.

More Focused Campaign Squads

To give Campaign Items more opportunity to feature in your squad over time, we’re changing how Campaign squads are built in EA SPORTS FC™ 27. Our goal is for each Campaign to feel more focused, with smaller squads and a tighter range of Item upgrades.

That means fewer Campaign Player Items, while the lower end of each squad will generally have a closer Attribute distribution relative to the highest-rated Items. In practice, Campaign squads will have a tighter spread of Attributes and PlayStyle boosts.

The first Campaign after Early Access, Destined for Glory, is one example of this approach and will feature 15 players in the Campaign Squad release each week. Throughout the year, there will be exceptions where broader representation makes sense for a particular football moment or Campaign, but generally speaking, Campaign Squad sizes will be smaller.

Campaign Squads graphic comparing minimum OVR and item counts between FC 26 and FC 27.

As previously announced, there will also be approximately five fewer Campaign weeks across FC 27. Those weeks will instead feature Series, including themed periods of content such as TOTY Warm Up and TOTS Warm Up, with no new Special Items added to Packs. The first Series of FC 27 will arrive during Season 3 in December.

Evolutions

Evolutions return in FC 27 as a core way to personalize your squad and build around the players you care about most. This year, we’re refining how Evolutions fit into your overall squad-building journey so they work in better balance with Campaign Items, SBCs, and other engagement rewards.

To align with the broader changes to Item upgrades and a steadier upgrade pacing across Ultimate Team, you can still expect to see impactful Evolutions throughout the year, just at a lower frequency and released at more intentional moments. This balanced approach ensures Campaigns, SBCs, mode rewards, and Evolutions each have a distinct, meaningful role in how you improve your squad.

Evolutions will also feature more tailored progression paths, with specific positional and Attribute requirements designed to preserve a player’s unique identity and on-pitch strengths as they grow.

To help you get a wider variety of items in your Club started on an EVO journey, we’re expanding Training Camp Evolutions. These will provide accessible entry points to boost lower-rated players, giving you more flexibility over how you upgrade your squad.

Chemistry Changes

In FC 27, we’re making a few targeted changes to Chemistry focused on ICONs, Heroes, and other boosted Chemistry Items.

ICONs will continue to receive full Chemistry when played in position and provide a +1 League link to every League. Their Nation contribution is being reduced from +2 to +1.

Heroes will also continue to receive full Chemistry when played in position, while their League contribution is being reduced from +2 to +1. Their +1 Nation contribution remains unchanged. Hall of FUT Items will follow the same Chemistry rules as Heroes.

Throughout the year, we’ll also be more selective about when Campaign Items and other Special Items receive boosted Chemistry. We want these Chemistry boosts to feel meaningful when they appear, while maintaining Chemistry and squad building as an important part of FUT as the Season progresses.

ICONs, Heroes, and Hall of FUT™

In EA SPORTS FC™ 27, we’re recalibrating how ICONs and Heroes stack up against one another, giving each tier a clearer identity and role within squad building.

ICONs represent players who built up their trophy cabinet or sustained world-class excellence across their careers, with the greatest among them helping define football history. Heroes highlight players remembered for unforgettable moments, celebrated club or league spells, and lasting impact they made on fans.

To reinforce that distinction, Base ICONs now start at 88 OVR, with refreshed Attributes and PlayStyles that reflect their status in FUT from launch.

We welcome the following new ICONs to FC 27.

FC 27 promotional graphic displaying ten ICON player items.

Hall of FUT is a new tier celebrating players whose impact in EA SPORTS FC and FUT made them unforgettable, whether through perfect links, standout performances, or lasting memories they created in your squads.

Base Hall of FUT Player Items will be available throughout EA SPORTS FC™ 27 through the Token Store, while special Campaign versions will begin appearing in Packs later in the year. Base Hall of FUT Items can also be used in Evolutions when they meet the relevant requirements.

Every Game Helps You Build Your Club

Post Match Rewards

In EA SPORTS FC™ 27, we want every match you play to contribute more directly to building your Football Ultimate Team™, whether you’re working toward your weekly rewards, have already reached them, or simply have time for a few matches.

To support that, we’re significantly increasing the FUT Coins earned after matches in Rivals, Champions, and Squad Battles. Compared to the roughly 500 to 600 FUT Coins typically earned from a match in EA SPORTS FC™ 26, Champions and Rivals will have the potential to reward several times more Coins, while Squad Battles will also see an increase.

You’ll also earn between 15 & 100 Season Points per eligible match depending on result and mode, up to 850 Season Points per day.

These changes work alongside the higher proportion of tradeable rewards in FC 27. More potential FUT Coins from playing and more tradeable Items are intended to give you greater flexibility in the Transfer Market, complete Evolutions, or save toward the next addition to your squad.

Weekly rewards will continue to provide meaningful milestones, but they’re just one of the ways you can keep progressing with your Club. Our goal is for matches beyond weekly reward thresholds to still help move your Club forward.

Based on your feedback after launch, we’ll also look for opportunities to expand post-match rewards further, including increased rewards for players in higher Divisions and additional reward types such as Tokens.

Game Modes

In EA SPORTS FC™ 27, each mode has a clearer role in how you compete, earn rewards, and build toward your next goal.

  • Rivals provides ongoing PvP play throughout the week
  • Champions provides exciting and exclusive rewards
  • Squad Battles offers a flexible PvE option
  • Live Events introduce rotating ways to play around current Campaigns and Seasons.

Division Rivals

In EA SPORTS FC™ 27, we’re creating a more noticeable difference in rewards between Divisions, giving you more to play for as you move up the Rivals ladder.

Bounties will also return and appear more frequently, giving you additional ways to earn Weekly Reward Points or accelerate your movement through the Rivals ladder.

We’re also increasing the amount of FUT Coins available through Rivals, and all Pack rewards will be tradeable at launch.

For example, Division 1 Upgraded Rewards will include:

  • 95,000 Coins
  • 4x 84+ Gold Players Pack
  • 5x 83+ Gold Players Pack
  • 1 of 5 83+ Gold Players
  • Giant Gold Pack (similar to FC26 Rare Mega Pack)
  • TOTW Player Pack

Champions

The 15-match Champions Finals structure returns in EA SPORTS FC™ 27, alongside increased FUT Coin rewards compared to EA SPORTS FC™ 26. We’re also making changes to give you more ways to play toward qualification and your next Champions entry:

  • Champions Qualification Points (CQP) can now be earned through both Rivals and Squad Battles.
  • The Division 6 requirement for Champions qualification has been removed.
  • Champions rewards will include more Champions Qualification Points.

Higher Rivals Divisions will allow you to earn CQP faster, but your Division will no longer determine whether you can play toward qualification. If you earn enough CQP, you’ll be able to qualify for Champions.

Squad Battles

Squad Battles remain a flexible way to play at your own pace, complete Objectives, progress Evolutions, and earn weekly rewards without playing against other players.

In FC 27, each match will feel more rewarding through increased post-match FUT Coins and Season Points. Squad Battles will also award Champions Qualification Points, giving PvE players a new way to work toward Champions qualification.

Single Player Live Events will also sit alongside Squad Battles throughout EA SPORTS FC™ 27, giving PvE players more ways to take part in Campaign and Season themed football experiences.

Live Events

Live Events offer different ways to play outside of the regular weekly modes. In EA SPORTS FC™ 27, Online and Single Player Live Events will rotate throughout the new Season, with each experience connecting to current Campaigns or Seasons through themed squads, entry requirements, and rewards.

Tournaments, Gauntlets, and Exhibitions will return alongside new Single Player Live Events. The Ultimate Gauntlet will also return during Week 2 of Destined for Glory, beginning with two Rounds in Season 1.

New Ways to Use and Earn Items

Holographic Items

We previously introduced Holographic Items in our FC 27 FUT Deep Dive, where you can find more details on how they work. Here, we’ll take a closer look at where you can find them at launch.

Starting from Team of the Week 1, eligible Campaign, TOTW, Hero, ICON and other special Player Items available in the FUT Pack pool can also appear as Holographics:

  • 87 OVR and below: Regular Holographic
  • 88 OVR and above: Pristine Holographic

Eligible Holographics can appear in Store Packs and Reward Packs, with the Transfer Market providing another way to find specific Items. Packs or Player Picks that guarantee a fixed group of specific Player Items will not include Holographic versions.

Streamlined SBCs

As covered in the EA SPORTS FC™ 27 Football Ultimate Team™ Deep Dive, Streamlined SBCs are a new Squad Building Challenge format that lets you contribute eligible Items toward a target score across multiple submissions, rather than building a full squad around traditional SBC requirements. For a full breakdown of how the feature works, see the FC 27 FUT Deep Dive.

Streamlined SBCs will be available on console and PC at launch and are intended to release in the Companion App later in Season 1.

Every Player Item in Football Ultimate Team™ has an Item Score based on its OVR, Rarity, and Holographic status. This same scoring system is used across both Streamlined SBCs and Gallery.

Each OVR has a base score, which can then be increased by Rarity and Holographic bonuses. These bonuses stack together, so Campaign and Holographic Items can contribute more toward a Streamlined SBC target.

For example, a Holographic TOTW Item receives both its TOTW Rarity bonus and its Holographic bonus.

We’ll continue monitoring Item Scores throughout EA SPORTS FC™ 27. If adjustments are needed based on player feedback or live data, we’ll provide significant advance notice before making any changes.

Gallery

Gallery gives you a meaningful, low pressure way to interact with the Items in your Club throughout your FUT journey. You can build around the Clubs, Leagues, Rarities, and football stories you care about, improve Sets over time, and earn rewards at your own pace.

As you earn Player Items throughout FC 27, they can contribute to Gallery Sets and remain part of your Gallery history even after they leave your Club. That means an Item you earn today can still become relevant to a Set introduced later on.

Each Set rewards you with Club Customisation including Club-specific Crests and Kits, while higher Grades award Gallery Tokens.

For a full breakdown of how Gallery works, including Sets, Grades, and Tags, see the EA SPORTS FC™ 27 FUT™ Deep Dive.

Gallery Token Store

Gallery Tokens can be redeemed for rewards inspired by fandom and Club identity. At launch, Base Hall of FUT Player Items will be among the featured rewards, giving you a way to earn these specific Base versions throughout EA SPORTS FC™ 27.

The Token Store will evolve throughout EA SPORTS FC™ 27 with new Kits, Crests, Holographic rewards, and more.

Gallery Level

Your progress across Gallery Sets also contributes to your overall Gallery Level, with larger rewards at key milestones:

New Gallery Sets

More than 100 Sets will be available at launch, spanning major men’s and women’s leagues and clubs, alongside Rarity Sets such as Squad Foundations and Team of the Week. A Starter Set will also introduce you to the feature. Gallery Set releases remain live for the duration of the game.

New Sets will arrive at certain moments throughout FC 27, but not every week or alongside every Campaign.

When a new Set arrives, eligible Items already recorded in your Gallery history can count towards it, even if they are no longer in your Club. An Item obtained today could become relevant to a new Gallery Set months later.

The first post-launch Gallery Set arrives at Worldwide Launch with the Season 1 (Combined Rarities) Set, bringing together Ones to Watch, Destined for Glory, and Future Stars Player Items to collect and showcase.

Manager Live

We’re kicking off FC 27 with a varied line-up of Manager Live Challenges, designed to offer different Objectives, varying time commitments, and ways to approach your Career.

Our Starter Challenges provide an accessible way to jump straight into Manager Live, built around familiar Career Mode experiences such as navigating the transfer market, building early-Season momentum, and chasing some of football’s biggest milestones.

Here are a few of the Challenges waiting for you:

  • Transfer Savvy: set your Season off with a shrewd profit in the opening transfer window.
  • Winning Start: go undefeated in the opening weeks of the new League Season, while winning at least three matches along the way.
  • Top at Christmas: put yourself at the top of the tree by leading your league when Christmas arrives.
  • Rio's Rising: make 2026/27 the season Rio Ngumoha cements his status as a superstar at Anfield.

That’s only some of the Challenges at the starting point. Throughout FC 27, Manager Live will continue to evolve with new Challenges inspired by the football season, giving you new scenarios and stories to take on as the year unfolds.

ICONs in Player Career & Manager Career

ICONs will once again be part of the Career Mode experience in FC 27, with new players becoming available to unlock throughout the Seasons.
