Happy: I don't feel like an underdog
The Mexican is currently third in Group C of the FC Pro Open, level on points with second-placed Young.

Having qualified for the FC Pro Open in the most dramatic way imaginable, Happy is already showing that he belongs among the world's very best players.

The Mexican rising star has been one of the surprise packages at the inaugural edition of the tournament, and with two wins and a draw from his first four matches in Group B, he is in with a tremendous chance of making it to the FC Pro Open Finals.

Happy laid down a marker from the outset during Match Week Three of the competition, beating one of only two unbeaten players in the Global Qualifier - FacuCowen - 3-1.

Another remarkable win would follow in Round 2, as he defeated 2023 eLaLiga champion Bonanno to once again upset the odds.

While a heavy defeat to PHzin would follow, in the last round of matches on Monday night Happy came from two goals down to draw with rival Young - and signify his status as a leading contender for the second spot in the group.

After his stunning wins, the new Tuzzy Esports signing (he joined the team just prior to the FC Pro Open starting) is full of confidence. Indeed, as he revealed in an interview on Monday night, he doesn't feel like an underdog despite being in a group with some of Esport's biggest stars.

"I don't feel like an underdog, I feel I have the levels to compete against them [my Group C rivals], I'm one of the best players right now."

Not even a 7-1 loss to 2023 eNations Cup champion PHzin could seemingly dent this newfound confidence.

Speaking about facing the Ajax Esports recruit, the 18-year-old added: "I feel I can play against the big dogs, having grown from the Global Qualifier to now."

Happy is currently on seven points in Group C, sitting in third place - level on points with Young. Indeed, just goal difference separates the Tuzzy's newest signing from the qualification places.

It's all to play for heading into the decisive matches - and there's every chance it goes down to the wire. Nevertheless, after sealing his place in the FC Pro Open by mounting a late comeback - and subsequently winning a decisive penalty shootout against MUAE14 - Happy might just thrive under such pressure.

One person who will be providing him with words of encouragement in such moments is his coach - and father - Norberto Rivera.

Providing guidance and advice throughout the competition, Happy revealed what Norberto is like, and just how much of a role his dad has played in his success on FC 24 to date.

Happy stated: "He [my dad] is an emotional coach. The tactics is all him."

The father-son duo have been one of the stories of the FC Pro Open so far, and if all goes well in the new year, the Finals beckon.
