Use the ^LT^ Body Modifier for Punches to target the body. Body Strikes in Ground and Pound cause Stamina reduction for your opponent. If your opponent opts not to defend their body, they will take a Stamina penalty which opens up the opportunity for Transitions or Submissions.

Body Strikes


Your objective with Straights and Hooks is to keep your opponent guessing between Head Movement and Posting against strikes. The better you switch up between strikes, the harder it is for your opponent to guess or react to your strikes. Elbows can cut your opponent but will force you to posture down.

**Inputs:**

Straights with ^X^ or ^Y^

Hooks with ^LB^+X^ or ^Y^

Elbows with ^RT^ + ^X^ or ^Y^

Ground and Pound Strikes


Grapple Advantage can change during many scenarios. This includes when your back is against the cage, your opponent will have Grapple Advantage. When you throw a slow strike like an Overhand, your opponent will also have Grapple Advantage. When your opponent misses a Roundhouse Kick, you will have a Grapple Advantage. Look out for the Grapple Advantage Meter and keep track of when it is in your favour.

Some moves carry a guard break property. When block health is low, you are vulnerable to moves that have a guard break. It will do extra damage.

To escape the Clinch. push ^LS^ away from your opponent.

Grapple Advantage is the red/blue bar on top of the round timer during gameplay. Grapple Advantage while standing determines the speed of your Takedowns. The more Grapple Advantage you have, the faster your takedown will be.

Blocking your head is the same as Stand-Up. Use ^RT^ to block your head in the Clinch.

When against the cage, use ^LSUP^ or ^LSDOWN^ to move right or left along the cage and away from the opponent to escape.

If using Grapple Assist, tap ^LSRIGHT^ to get to your closest Postured Up position. When using Hybrid or Legacy Grapple HUD, tap ^RSUP^ when on top of your opponent.

Getting into a Ground and Pound Position


Blocking your body is the same as Stand-Up. Use ^RT^+^LT^ to block your body. In Cage Single Under, however, ^RT^ will be used to defend all punches, including body ones, and ^LS^ towards the opponent&#39;s underhook will counter the knees; whereas ^LT^+^RT^ will not defend body strikes, only takedowns.

Low Block and Defending Takedowns


Should you manage to put your opponent into a Health Event or are at a big Stamina advantage, you may gain Transition options depending on your moveset. You can get a transition to a more advantageous position or a Submission. Access these with ^RB^.

**Inputs:**

Grapple Assist or Hybrid Grapple HUD: ^RB^+^LSLEFT^ for Submissions or ^RB^+^LSRIGHT^ for Transitions.

Legacy Grapple HUD: ^RB^+^RSALL^ (direction changes dependent on the position).

Transitions and Submissions


Flying submissions are blocked by holding ^RT^.

Defending Flying Submissions


Moving your head into an opponent&#39;s strike (such as ducking into an Uppercut or swaying into a Roundhouse Kick) increases your damage taken. Be careful not to be too predictable with your movement.

If on top of your opponent, you can Get Up from the Ground and Pound position by holding ^RB^+^LSUP^ or ^RSUP^.

Getups


Most fighters have a Single Leg Takedown and a Double Leg Takedown. Both can be performed by holding ^LT^+^X^ or ^Y^. For Clinch Takedowns, see Striking Offense: Clinch.

Attempting Takedowns


When a takedown is attempted and your opponent denies late, you will enter a Takedown Drive. While inside a Takedown Drive, you can keep pushing the oponent forward, with ^LS^, and change the direction of your takedown by pushing ^LSUP^ or ^LSDOWN^. Your opponent must match this direction with a flick of their ^LS^ to defend against your changes of direction.
