NEW UPDATES COMING WITH APEX LEGENDS™: PRODIGY
Target greatness and get ready to shoot your shot with a new Legend that has been a prodigy since his beginnings. Set your sights on the bullseye or close enough with an explosive new Bocek. And make every strike count in a returning favorite: Arenas. Add in Ranked updates, refreshed metas, and more, and this season will definitely be kicking off with a bang (no whimpers here).
SPARROW
Enea Davide Guarino (you can call him “Sparrow”) was born into the most respected bounty hunter clan in the Outlands known for their unparalleled archery skills and dogmatic moral code. Being raised by such a tightly-wound group made this irreverent rascal the black sheep of his clan. After one particularly reckless choice, it became clear they would never see eye to eye and Enea was shunned from his family.
Despite this, Sparrow’s determined to figure out how to have it all—a life on his own terms and his family’s acceptance. Maybe the publicity and fan fare of the Apex Games will help this prodigy regain the respect of his family.
For the first two weeks of the season, Sparrow will be temporarily unlocked for all players and you’ll have a chance to add Sparrow to your permanent pantheon of Legends by completing challenges. These Launch challenges will test your skills with Legends, weapons, and damage to see if you’ve got what it takes to wield this Prodigy.

BOCEK
Be still your quivering hearts! After many, many seasons, the Bocek Compound Bow returns to the floor with an explosive new personality to match our newest Legend entering the Apex Games.
Keep the fire power coming by infusing the Bocek with Frags to utilize explosive capabilities. Fire these arrows and, after a short fuse, they’ll explode into a radius around them and deal damage to anyone or anything in its wake: perfect for destroying doors, placeables, or flushing out anyone hiding behind cover.
Back on the floor, the Bocek will not take traditional ammo like our other weapons. Arrows cannot be found by traditional looting, instead, each Bocek Compound Bow will start with its own quiver of arrows, which can only be replenished by re-collecting arrows that have been fired into the world. Don’t worry, a portion of arrows used to kill an enemy will be available for collection on top of their deathbox upon their demise.
LTM: ARENAS
Hear that? It’s the roar of the crowd. Arenas is back with some fresh updates that will be rolled out over Prodigy. Just like the feel of an old target range, you can expect familiarity while making new marks. Apex Legends has seen a breadth of new content since we were last in the Arena, and you can expect all of that to play its part including the prodigy Legend Sparrow, Akimbo weapons, and the Bocek. And Arenas matches are now shorter—the first team to win 3 rounds will be crowned champion.
We’ll also see some additional QoL improvements throughout the first half of the season: weapons in the store will be banned for a certain duration after being selected by a player, and a discount will kick off in certain rounds to tempt you away from your main weapons. Finally, Health items will now be available at the beginning of the round to keep your sights on more interesting store choices.
Our mid-season update will up the ante when Arenas shifts to a 1v1 variant—”Arenas: Duels.”
RANKED
Takeover brought some adjustments to resets, and now Prodigy is bringing in some additional tuning refinement to help with balance and bring players of like-skill closer together. Your starting Rank Tier and Division will now be based on your hidden skill value from the seasons of the past; with the Bronze reset rule for those who missed a season being removed.
We’ll also be introducing a few other aspects that should have a positive impact on your Ranked experience: Ranked Challenges and Ranked Ladders. Both will ensure that your rewards fully reflect your skill over the split, while giving you a little something extra to chase. We’ll break this down a little bit more in Prodigy’s Patch Notes who are hungry for more nitty gritty details before jumping into the season.
PATHFINDER: BUFFED BOI
There may be a new Legend this season, but that doesn’t mean that the OGs aren’t still getting some love. Pathy is sure to swing back into the meta with an improved Zipline Zen, a variable cooldown for his Tac, and two fresh new upgrades that may just make him the threat you didn’t see zip-lining in.
Stay tuned for more potential buffs and nerfs with our Patch Notes blog on May 5, 2025.
SEE YOU ON THE DROPSHIP
A new Legend who’s also available to unlock permanently, a revived Bocek with explosive capabilities, and a favorite mode returning for a limited-time? Hope you’re hungry, because this is just a taste of what Prodigy is bringing to the table starting on May 6, 2025. Plus, both Pathfinder and Sparrow will be unlocked for the first four weeks of the season so that everyone has a chance to try out these game changes. We’ve got two more blog helpings filled with details over the next couple of days to help you become legendary in this next season of Apex Legends.
