BIG BOI OF OUTKAST TO HEADLINE NEED FOR SPEED HOT PURSUIT ‘ON TOUR’ LAUNCH IN AUSTRALIA

Electronic Arts (EA) has announced that it will exclusively bring Big Boi - one half of multi-platinum, six time Grammy Award winning supergroup Outkast to Australia on November 18 to launch its much-anticipated car racing videogame Need for Speed Hot Pursuit. This will be the latest installment in the hugely popular Need for Speed videogame franchise.

Sydney, Australia will be the eighth city that the Need for Speed Hot Pursuit ‘On Tour’ launch program will visit, and the first city outside of North America. EA’s loyal Australian fans are being invited to help celebrate the launch on November 18 in an action-packed event schedule featuring a headline concert by Big Boi and a separate showcase of some of Australia’s most exotic performance cars.

Big Boi will be performing tracks from his critically acclaimed solo album Sir Lucious Left Foot: The Son of Chico Dusty (Def Jam) which has garnered rave reviews across the globe from Rolling Stone to NME and MTV. Alongside Outkast fan favourites, Big Boi will perform an exclusive* concert for Need for Speed customers at the Hordern Pavilion on November 18.  Game devotees will have the opportunity to witness the adrenaline and intensity of Need for Speed Hot Pursuit On Tour experience live on stage.

A long-term fan and partner of EA GAMES, Big Boi commented; “ This brings a few of my favourite things together – music, video games and hot cars.  Need For Speed Hot Pursuit has all of those things combined so I can’t wait to make it funky in Australia.”

The Need For Speed Hot Pursuit On Tour Launch will comprise two parts:

Car Meet: a massive indoor event with over 80 of Australia’s most powerful customised cars on display. Covering everything from hard-tuned street cars to supercar exotics, this hand-picked selection represents the best of the best racers in Australia.

Music Event: customers who pre-order a copy of Need For Speed Hot Pursuit through official retail partner GAME can secure a ticket to this exclusive concert; headlined by Big Boi and supported by a host of up-and-coming Australian artists.

The Need For Speed Hot Pursuit On Tour Car Show kicks-off from 3pm until 6pm, with concert doors opening from 7pm.

This November, Need for Speed Hot Pursuit will transform online racing by bringing to life the adrenaline and intensity of high-speed cop pursuits and changing the way that people connect and compete with their friends. Players will experience the thrill of the chase and the rush of the escape as they play through full careers as both a cop and a racer – solo or connected. The high speed busts and heart-stopping getaways are all connected via Need for Speed Autolog. This network not only connects friends for epic head-to head pursuits and races, but also enables players to compare performances and stats, thereby setting the stage for the ultimate in social competition.

Need for Speed Hot Pursuit will be available on 18 November 2010 in Australia on the Xbox 360® videogame and entertainment system, PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system and PC.
