EA Dev Stories: How passion shapes every player moment

Go behind the scenes with EA developers bringing authenticity and emotion to our biggest games

April 21, 2026

At EA, our teams pour their passion and expertise into creating the best possible experiences for our players and fans around the globe.

In our new Dev Stories series, we hear directly from two developers behind the work. The small details they obsess over. The care they put into every moment. And why passion shows up in everything they do.

Take a look at the video above and/or read the answers below!

“I absolutely feel that players can feel the love and care put into the game.”

Creating with heart

For the teams behind our games, creating immersive experiences starts with understanding what players feel in the moment. Whether it’s the intensity of combat or the subtle realism of movement, every detail is designed to bring players closer to the experience.

“We’re trying to connect the player to the game,” says Jac Carlsson, Game Designer with  DICE, part of  Battlefield Studios. “We want them to feel what it is to be a soldier in that space, moving and making tactical decisions.”

That connection goes beyond systems and mechanics. It’s also about performance, emotion, and the authenticity players recognize when everything comes together.

“Our mantra that I like to repeat in performance capture is make it feel real,” says Pasha Sol, Motion Capture Supervisor at EA CREATE. “I absolutely feel that players can feel the love and care put into the game. When I walk the halls of Repsawn, they‘re all covered in fan art. Sketches of the characters that they love.”

Soldiers in full tactical gear advance across a dusty battlefield with tanks and a helicopter overhead, as explosions flare near rocky, snow-capped mountains.

“We’re trying to connect the player to the game. We want them to feel what it is to be a soldier in that space, moving and making tactical decisions.”

More to come

From gameplay systems to performance capture, the details matter. The way a character moves. The choices a player makes. The authenticity of every interaction. These are the elements that help bring players closer to the experience.

Dev Stories is about highlighting the people behind that work. It is about sharing how teams collaborate, create, and push to make every moment feel real.

Stay tuned for the next video in the Dev Stories series coming later this year.
