Instant Replay #3

Sparks danced around the sharp edges of my Chakrams, crackling and hissing, as they carved through wave after wave of Tuatha. The Prismere Troll up ahead heard the screams of my fallen foes, and moved to intercept me. His (hers? How can you tell?) deadly club slammed into the ground, sending spears of rock sprouting from the ground. I dodged in time, and zipped behind him, my Poison Blink ability a definite advantage against such a slow creature. I quickly shot a storm bolt towards him, causing his legs to buckle underneath him.

It was then, or never. Another quick Blink, towards him this time, and I launched a furious attack with my Faeblades, like a whirling dervish of death. Three short seconds later, the troll lay in a heap. I bent down, and searched through his corpse… A few herbs and some cash? That’s it? I pocketed the gold, and threw the flowers back to the ground.

I wouldn’t need them where I was going.

I still remember the first time I played Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning. The game hadn’t even been finished yet, but I could tell then and there that I’d be spending a lot of my time on it. I’ve dropped over 70 hours into it now, and even though I’ve hit the current level cap of 40, there’s still so much I haven’t done. The Warsworn questline still remains, as does the Scholia Arcana, and various side quests, and I’ll definitely go through and do them at some stage… I’m just having fun exploring now. Should probably actually finish it though.

Reckoning has had two DLC expansions release recently, The Legend of Dead Kel, and The Teeth of Naros, and I can quite honestly say that I haven’t had as much fun with extra content as I have with Dead Kel. With an entire host of new characters, a new location (complete with a fully upgradeable Keep and Twist of Fate!), a whole host of sweet new weaponary, and a Pirates of the Caribbean-worthy storyline, it was a blast to play through.

And now that The Teeth of Naros is out, I can already tell what’s in the cards (oh yes, that just happened) for my Fate. A whole lot more Reckoning.
