Military tanks become Tanksis to beat the rush hour!

Last week on Thursday October 27th 2011: The London commute received a radical facelift after Tanks became the latest mode of transport to tackle the London rush hour, marking the launch of new blockbuster video game Battlefield 3.

A team of armoured tanks known as Tanksi’s took London by storm this week as they invaded traditional taxi ranks and carried lucky commuters to work. The new kings of the road dwarfed black cabs and made buses give way as they steam rolled to their destinations.

Asking for no fares, the 16 tonne Abbot tanks battled the usual traffic chaos as they navigated the jammed up streets around famous London landmarks including, Big Ben, Trafalgar Square, Westminster, and even Buckingham Palace.

The first ever Tanksi rank appeared outside Waterloo Station, to mark the launch of the game (out Friday 28th October) and they will make an explosive return to the capital tomorrow morning (Friday) to offer lucky commuters another unique way to travel across London.

Tom Goldberger from Battlefield 3 publishers Electronic Arts said: “Tanksis have been brought to the Capital to make the urban battlefield that is London’s roads more of a joy than the daily chore they currently are. We wanted to launch Battlefield 3 in style and are looking forward to ferrying excited game fans and commuters around the city today.
