Crysis 2 Character Bio: Colonel Barclay

In Crysis 2, Sherman Barclay is the native New Yorker and seasoned military commander tasked with leading the US Marine deployment in Manhattan. It breaks his heart to see US military personnel deployed in his home town. On the other hand, it breaks his heart more to see what has been done to the place by the invaders. Barclay was at Lingshan, albeit in a support capacity, and he is well aware of the threat they face. At the same time, he knows very well that most conventional attempts to defeat the enemy at Lingshan were futile, and he fears that his presence in New York now is likely to prove equally useless.
For the moment, he concerns himself with holding their tenuous stronghold at Central Station, waiting on orders he prays will have some modicum of intelligence behind them, and planning emergency withdrawal options in case the worst should happen. The lessons of Lingshan were clear – those who fell back in good order mostly managed to survive; those who stood and fought, the aliens rolled over and destroyed. Barclay will simply not allow that to happen to his men or the civilian New Yorkers who have fallen into his care.
