Alexander Gustafsson defeats Georges St-Pierre to earn EA SPORTS UFC Cover

After four weeks and over 11 million votes, Sweden’s Alexander “The Mauler” Gustafsson has earned the right to join Light Heavyweight champion Jon “Bones” Jones on the cover of EA SPORTS UFC.

Gustafsson, the no. 1 Light Heavyweight contender in the world, defeated legendary Welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre in the final round of voting to earn the honor. Gustafsson overcame tough opposition, thanks in large part to his huge European following, especially in his native Sweden.

Jones and Gustafsson captured the attention of fans earlier in 2013 with an epic, five- round Light Heavyweight title fight. Jones retained the title, and it’s likely that the pair will square off in a rematch sometime in 2014. In the meantime, they’ll stand side by side on the cover of the game.
