Another remarkable round of Barclays Premier League football saw Manchester City close the gap to 3 points now in the race for the title.

Everton dealt Manchester United a huge blow in one of the games of the season coming back from 4-2 to draw 4-4 at Old Trafford.

Unsurprisingly that match contributed 5 players to the EA SPORTS Team of the Week this week - Nikica Jelavic leads from the front next to Wayne Rooney plus Nani joins Steven Pienaar and Marouane Fellaini in midfield.

With thanks to the EA SPORTS Player Performance Index, here are this past weekend's interesting facts...

Manchester United vs. Everton

• Everton produced a stunning comeback to earn a 4-4 draw in what was arguably the game of the season so far at Old Trafford during game week 35. A total of 5 players (3 from Everton and 2 from Manchester United) make the EA SPORTS Player Performance Index Team of the Week for game week 35.

United and England striker Wayne Rooney now sits top of The EA SPORTS Player Performance Index after his two goals helped him over take recently crowned PFA Player of the Year Robin Van Persie. Rooney now has 26 Premier League goals for the season and according to The EA SPORTS Player Performance Index he has seen 67% of his shots this season hit the target (86 shots on target and 43 shots off target)

• The EA SPORTS Player Performance Index indicates Everton striker Nikica Jelavic received the ball from his team mates 37 times during the game compared to Wayne Rooney receiving the ball off his team mates 69 times.

• Steven Pienaar played an important role in securing his side a fantastic point at Old Trafford. The EA Sports Player Performance Index tells us that he made a total of 49 passes during the game; 17 of these passes were forward passes, 29 were backward passes and 3 were sideways passes.
  

Wolves vs. Manchester City

• Manchester City closed the gap on league leaders Manchester United to 3 points which now sets up a mouthwatering Manchester Derby for game week 36. City midfielder Gareth Barry regularly goes about his business in a modest manner and is regarded by many as an unsung hero. The EA SPORTS Player Performance Index once again backs up these claims as he covered more distance than any other Manchester City player during the game (6.08 miles) and also recorded the highest average speed during the game of 6.81mph

• Despite having their relegation confirmed during game week 35 Wolves do have the highest ranked player in The EA SPORTS Player Performance Index of any team currently in the relegation zone in the Barclays Premier League. Matt Jarvis sits in 51st place in the rankings and interestingly The EA SPORTS Player Performance Index tells us that the pacey winger has made a total of 117 crosses in 35 Premier League games this season, Manchester United’s Nani is the only Premier League player to have attempted more crosses this season (132 crosses in 27 games)
 

Liverpool vs. West Brom
 
• The EA SPORTS Team of the Week features 3 West Brom players thanks to their brilliant 1-0 victory over Liverpool at Anfield. Goal keeper Ben Foster was kept busy and he did brilliantly well to keep a clean sheet after Liverpool managed 30 attempts on goal during the game. According to The EA SPORTS Player Performance Index Foster has made 190 saves this season, only Wayne Hennessey (223 saves) and John Ruddy (196 saves) have made more saves in the Premier League this season.

• The EA SPORTS Player Performance Index tells us that West Brom covered a total distance as a team of 65.62 miles compared to Liverpool’s 62.57 miles. Only Swansea (65.75 miles) covered more distance as a team during game week 35.


Newcastle United vs. Stoke
 
• Newcastle now sit in 4th place, 3 points clear ahead of Tottenham after yet another victory in what has been an outstanding season for Alan Pardew’s men. Newcastle midfielder Yohan Cabaye scored his 3rd and 4th goals of the season once again showing his importance to the team. The EA SPORTS Player Performance Index tells us that the Frenchman made 47 attacking runs during the 60 minutes he was on the pitch, 43 of these runs were without the ball and 4 were with the ball.

• According to The EA SPORTS Player Performance Index Cabaye had an average speed of 7.29mph during the game, this was the highest average speed recorded by a Premier League player during game week 35.

• It now seems to be a 3 horse race for that final Champions League spot between Chelsea, Tottenham and Newcastle. Newcastle currently have 5 players sat in the top 50 of the EA SPORTS Player Performance index rankings with Chelsea having 4 players and Tottenham 7 players.
 

Fulham vs. Wigan

• Phillipe Senderos scored his first goal of the season and helped Fulham to a 2-1 victory over Wigan. Senderos makes The EA SPORTS Team of the Week and according to The EA SPORTS Player Performance Index the Swiss defender made 8 interceptions of the ball during the match, only once this season has he made more interceptions in a game which was during game week 28 against Aston Villa when he made 16 interceptions.

• Pavel Pogrebnyak scored yet again to make it 6 Premier League goals in 8 appearances since joining Fulham in January. Pogrebnyak covered the most distance of any player during the game covering 6.48 miles which suggests that he works hard for the team as well as scoring the vital goals.
