Four red devils make the team this week.
The EA SPORTS Team Of The Week

Game week 29 of the Barclays Premier League has just concluded and the EA SPORTS Player Performance Index has been at it again ranking all the players and selecting them in our team of the week.

Antonio Valencia, Rafel Da Silva, Johnny Evans and Javier Hernandez all start this week after Man United's clinical 5-0 win over Wolves.

Thomas Vermaelen's match winner for Arsenal over Everton away earns him a place in the heart of defence.

And Gylfi Sigurdsson (2 goals) and Wayne Routledge (2 assists) both start for Swansea having impressively seen off Fulham 3-0 away from home.

Here's the team in full:

And with thanks to the EA SPORTS PPI, here are the interesting facts from the last round of matches.

Wolves vs. Manchester United

  • Manchester United temporarily extended their lead at the top of the Barclays Premier League to 4 points with a clinical 5-0 victory against Wolves. United’s Antonio Valencia put in an excellent performance assisting 1 goal and scoring one to take himself to 12 assists and 3 goals in his 18 Premier League games so far this season. According to the EA SPORTS Player Performance Index Valencia reached a top speed of 23.3mph, this was the highest top speed recorded by any player on the pitch during the game.

  • The EA SPORTS Player Performance Index tells us Paul Scholes covered 6.54 miles during the game, only Wayne Rooney (6.96 miles) covered more distance for Manchester United in game week 29. This suggests that Scholes is still getting himself up and down the pitch as well as he has been doing for the past 15 years.

Newcastle vs. Norwich City

  • Papiss Cisse's sublime first-half finish sunk Norwich as Newcastle secured a first win in five and revived their push for a European place. Cisse seems to be enjoying life in the Premier League having now scored 3 goals in his 6 Premier League appearances since joining the club in the January transfer window. The EA SPORTS Player Performance Index shows us that he has had a total of 14 shots at goal this season with 9 of them hitting the target.

  • Cisse has made a total of 272 attacking runs without the ball in his 6 games; interestingly The EA SPORTS Player Performance Index shows that 188 of these have been made in the first half of games compared to 84 in the second half.

Fulham vs. Swansea

  • Swansea continue to impress during their first season in the Barclays Premier League with a terrific 3-0 victory away to Fulham in game week 29. Swansea’s Joe Allen covered 6.54 miles during the game which was more than any other player covered from either side.

  • According to The EA SPORTS Player Performance Index the young Welshman has made 611 passes so far this season, interestingly this is the highest number of passes made by a player not currently part of a team that sits in the top 5 of the Barclays Premier League at present.

Wigan vs. West Brom

  • Wigan picked up a vital point in the battle to survive relegation with a 1-1 draw against West Brom. Gary Caldwell is the only Wigan player who currently features within the top 100 of The EA SPORTS Player Performance Index sitting in 66th place; this makes him the 22nd highest ranked defender within the index at present. The Scotsman has made a total of 58 tackles in his 27 games winning an impressive 42 of these, this gives him a tackles won percentage of 72.41%.

Blackburn Rovers vs. Sunderland

  • Blackburn made it 3 wins from their last 5 premier League games and took a big step towards their battle to survive relegation with a brilliant 2- 0 win over Sunderland. Yakubu scored his 13th Premier League goal in 20 Premier League appearances this season.

  • The EA SPORTS Player Performance Index shows that Yakubu has covered a total distance of 95.54 miles this season averaging 4.77 miles covered per game.
