Adrian Blunt, FIFA Online Producer, talks about the Youth Scout feature in Closed Beta 4 for FIFA Online.
FIFA Online, at its core, is about growing your favourite club to be the best in the world. Everybody has a different dream but for me it’s about taking Liverpool to Premier League and European glory and turning it into the unstoppable force I have always felt it should be. FIFA Online gives you a lot of ways to grow your team in the game from growing the original players you start with on your squad to signing exciting new players you receive as a reward after playing every match. For Closed Beta 4 (starting May 5 and finishing May 14), we’re introducing a new way to do this: the Youth Scout.
The Youth Scout is a new feature that gives you access to up-and-coming young players from around the world to add to your team. These players generally have low stats but huge potential for growth so make a great addition to a growing team. Players can sign directly for in-game coins for a 30 match contract or hired as a Free Agent. This allows you to temporarily hire a player without paying a contract fee but means that you pay a penalty in terms of the number of coins you earn each match.
For example, if a Youth Player has a Free Agent penalty of -10%, and your potential earning per match is 800 coins, you would pay 80 coins per match for having this player on your squad as a Free Agent. Free Agents can of course be converted at any time to a full contract player at any time once you hire them buy paying their contract fee in the ‘Manage Players’ area of the game. The Free Agent mechanism is a great way to use Youth Players to fill critical roles in your squad if you have a fatigued or injured team and are running low on coins.
Just be careful you don’t keep them on your team for too long!
