Coverage from the first FIWC UK Pre-qualifier event of the 2011 season.

Tomorrow the curtain will rise on the first UK Pre-Qualifier event as part of the FIWC 2011 season and it will be taking place at the HMV Gamerbase centre in Edinburgh. Budding FIFA 11 stars will be playing for a place at the UK Live event in Liverpool this April so there will be plenty to play for. The day will start at 10.30am with a group stage followed by a single elimination bracket.

This article will act as the coverage centre for the event so be sure to check back to see the latest results and which players are moving closer to securing the top ticket. Players will be drawn into groups on Saturday morning and their progress will be posted here followed by the bracket stage later in the day. Currently 30 players are registered so it looks to be a hotly contested tournament.

Status Update:

9.30am - Set up begins at the centre, installing the latest squad files and starting to register players that have turned up early.

11.00am - Registration has finished and 15 players are present. Group matches will be starting shortly.

11.30am - Group matches have begun and we have 2 groups all together.

2.00pm - The groups have now finished and after some close battles the 8 players progressing to the bracket stage are known.

2.40pm - Brackets are now live and available at the bottom of this post.

4.10pm - The first semi final is over with a 2-1 victory for iiIRAx in extra-time, a delicate header at the back post with Real Madrid against Chelsea. The second semi-final is about to start with LewisOrr against InteristaFil and it's Inter vs. Chelsea match.

5.00pm - LewisOrr wins the final 4-3 after a hard-fought battle against iiIRAx with Chelsea against Real Madrid. Lewis took an early lead before iiIRAx had Kaka redcarded but managed to get himself back into the game. In the dying minutes he scored a stunning freekick with Ronaldo to bring it back to 4-3 but couldn't grab the needed equaliser.

Congrats to both players who qualify for the UK Live event in April and thanks to everyone that participated today.
