It was an emotional Saturday night at the Camp Nou with the return of fan-favorite Éric Abidal to the FC Barcelona squad. Abidal had been sidelined for the last year after undergoing successful liver surgery back in April of 2012. Those in attendance got quite a show as the home side easily defeated RCD Mallorca 5-0.
The stars of the night were Cesc Fábregas and Alexis Sánchez who did all of the scoring. Fábregas recorded his first hat trick as a professional and even managed to help set up one of his teammate’s goals. For Sánchez, his two goals doubled his season tally to four goals, while his two assists gave him six on the season.
The incredible season for FC Bayern Munich reached a new high as they secured the Bundesliga title for the 22nd time in the club's history. It was also their 11th consecutive victory and goalkeeper Manuel Neuer earned his 17th clean sheet of the season, as they easily defeated Eintracht Frankfurt 0-1. With the title wrapped up, focus will shift towards reaching Wembley in May and Neuer’s play in goal will be vital if they hope to get there.
