Hey everyone and welcome back to The Grind with Mack.

This week for me has been a constant battle. I’ve been balancing work at the shop, finding time to play XBox 360 and above all, battling with the constant shift in this, our lovely British weather.

It’s ten minutes till I have to lock up the shop, head out for a session at the new skate park in Bromley. It’s been sunny all day, so sunny that I even deemed it necessary to rock out in some shorts. I’ve been thinking of a new line I want to hit up and am so eager to get out there to throw down.

After a few warm up games of skate I’m ready to push this trick. Thirty minutes later and I’m glad I’m wearing shorts. The trick I was trying isn’t anything epic but I wanted to get a front side fifty fifty on the hubba, a trick that has been done before and I’m sure it will be again, but today was my turn. A few more attempts and I was locked in, balance slightly off but holding out for the land and roll away and in that split second, the heavens open.

I’m grateful for two things if it is raining. One that I have a HD connection for my XBox and that on Skate 3 it doesn’t rain.

Also this week I was lucky enough to get a hold of the full version of Skate 3 and let me tell you…Epic. Once again I find myself in a battle, this time between the real skating world and the virtual. The release date for Skate 3 is Friday 14th, so I won’t give anything away, but I have to comment on the way this game plays and how close this is to real life skate spots.

One thing that stands out for me are, that the bails are so sick, not just in the hall of meat but in the general skate. If you clip a curb, instant face plant isn’t an option. Your character picks themselves back up before you eat concrete. Another little bail out I found is that if you grind a rail and your board stops, but you keep going, your character walks and balances on the rail.

If you are like me and you watch a lot of skate DVDs you will be able to relate to spots in the game and real life locations. I keep coming across stuff from videos. Just this week I found a spot that’s in the Creature Hesh Law DVD. It’s in the sewer way, with the long banks and long rails.

This game is constantly making its locations real, which is what I’m really enjoying. With pre ordering the game, an exact replica of the Black Box skate park is yours and I’ve got to get a hold of the location that Chris Cole shreds at!

Thanks for reading and check out next week where I’ll have all the details about the EA Skate 3 launch party and as always, keep skating.
