Loadout Creation and Weapon Classes

10 de octubre de 2025

Action screenshot from BF6 featuring number of soldiers taking cover in trenches. Some are running and one lays above looking out with his gun. There is fire and dust everywhere.

Dropping into all-out war? Then you better have a loadout.

Loadouts are a customizable set of Weapons, Gadgets, Grenades, a Grenade and a Training Path, all focused around one of the four classes. Here is how to build a loadout, as well as details on one of its most central pieces: the weapons of Battlefield 6.

Building a Loadout - The Basics

A soldier lies in a prone position on rocky terrain whilst holding a large gun and looking down a scope.

Loadouts are found one tab over from Battlefield 6’s main menu. Each of the four classes have their own set of Loadouts to customize, with specific Gadgets, Training Paths and a unique Grenade to equip.

Every Loadout includes the following:

Note: Training Paths, Gadgets and Class-Specific Grenades are covered in the Class Guide here.

Training Path: Designed to amplify the unique strengths of each Class, ensuring your role on the field is both impactful and strategic. Each Class offers two distinct Training Paths - one unlocked by Default, the other by completing a specific Class Assignment challenge set - that you can choose from when customizing your loadouts. They provide flat-stat bonuses and benefits that enhance your performance in teamwork scenarios and objectives across various modes.

Your main source for dealing damage as infantry, ranging from close-quarters (Shotguns and SMGs) to long-range (Sniper Rifles) and everything in between.

In Closed Weapon experiences, players are restricted to selecting the Signature Weapon for the specific chosen Class, in addition to Carbines, DMRs or Shotguns:

Assault - Assault Rifle

Engineer - SMG

Support - LMG

Recon - Sniper Rifle

Your backup damage dealer.

All weapons can have attachments; these modify a weapon to increase its damage profile, handling characteristics or what appears when aiming down its sights. Each weapon has a set amount of “Attachment Points” that can be used to equip a combination of attachments up to a certain threshold.

Both Primary and Secondary Weapons can be tested in the Loadout’s Firing Range. Simply follow the on-screen command at the bottom of the screen to go to this Firing Range, which has several targets at varying distances and a direct damage read-out for every hit.

When customizing most weapons, you can also apply the following cosmetic changes, in addition to its attachments:

Camo - A complete paintjob of the entire weapon; examples include Woodland, Digital and Urban camouflages.

Charm - A single hanging item, such as a trinket.

Decals - A small sticker or other visual art piece. Multiple decals can be attached to a weapon at any time

Gadget (Two Slots): Unique to each class, a collection of offensive, defensive and strategic devices and equipment.

Throwable explosives that either deal direct damage or have some effect against enemies, such as blinding them or slowing movement. Also includes the deadly Throwing Knife, available for the Recon Class.

A handheld tool used to damage enemies in fisticuffs range, some of which also deal damage to structure and objects.

Signature Gadget: By default, each class also has a Gadget that is usable regardless of your loadout. They are as follows:

Assault - Adrenaline Injector

Engineer - Repair Tool

Support - Supply Bag

Recon - Motion Sensor

Each Class also has a Signature Trait and a benefit that applies to their Signature Weapon, which you can read all about in game.

Still unsure about building an entire loadout from scratch, let alone what attachments to put on a weapon? Then use the pre-set loadouts included under each Class. Each weapon also has a default attachment set-up as well, which is designed by Battlefield Studios developers to bring out a balanced version of that specific weapon’s in-game experience.

Assault Rifles

Un fusil de asalto sobre una superficie oscura, rodeado de cargadores, proyectiles y equipamiento táctico.

These fully-automatic, maneuverable, and highly-modular all-around rifles are the cornerstone of aggressive and adaptable loadouts. Without question, it’s an Assault Class’ Signature Weapon.

M433 (Default Unlocked) - Chambered in 5.56x45mm, this cutting-edge rifle is best suited at closer ranges due to its above average rate of fire.

B36A4 (Rank 14) - A versatile carbine that can be modified to compete in both close-quarters or ranged encounters.

SOR-556 MK2 (Rank 25) - This modular rifle is in an intermediate configuration. It’s highly accurate and best utilized at mid to long engagements.

AK4D (Rank 35) - A classic battle rifle with a slow rate of fire, best utilized during mid to long range engagements.

TR-7 (Rank 50) - With a relatively high fire rate and subsequent recoil, this popular bullpup battle rifle is better suited to close range combat.

KORD 6P67 (Unlocked Through Assignment RAPID FIRE 1) - This low-recoil, high rate-of-fire rifle performs well at both close and long ranges.

NVO-228E (Unlocked Through Assignment RAPID FIRE 2) - This powerful assault rifle chambered in 7.62 Soviet is a reliable weapon designed for mid-ranged encounters.

L85A3 (Unlocked Through Assignment RAPID FIRE 3) - With a steady rate of fire, this modified bullpup rifle favors mid to long range engagements.

Carbine

Two soldiers in tan military gear move through a dimly lit corridor, gripping assault rifles and ready for combat.

In a similar arena as the Assault Rifles, albeit smaller and designed for closer engagements as opposed to shooting at long ranges. Available to all classes in Closed Weapon experiences.

M4A1 (Rank 2) - With its high cyclic rate, extending this carbine’s effective range requires competent recoil management

M277 (Rank 11) - Chambered in 6.8x51mm, this newly fielded rifle is intended for overmatch at range at the cost of magazine capacity.

AK-205 (Rank 22) - With an average cyclic rate and 5.45x39mm chambering, this rifle offers superior ranged performance.

M417 A2 (Rank 32) - Chambered in 7.62x51mm, this compact battle rifle offsets its high damage with a steady rate of fire.

GRT-BC (Rank 41) - A compact bullpup rifle with an above average rate of fire and an intermediate chambering speed.

QBZ-192 (Unlocked Through Assignment DANGER CLOSE 1) - A modern rifle of East Asian origin chambered in the unique 5.8x42mm. Comes factory with a bipod grip for rapid stabilized shooting.

SG 553R (Unlocked Through Assignment DANGER CLOSE 2) - A classic cold-war era rifle modernized for export. Its effectiveness quickly diminishes beyond mid range.

SOR-300SC - Coming soon in Season 1!

SMG

Un subfusil compacto en medio de munición, cargadores y herramientas de limpieza sobre una mesa de trabajo negra.

Lightweight true sub machine guns and personal defense weapons, SMGs are designed for close-quarters engagements with the highest average fire rate among all Primary Weapons. It’s also the Signature Weapon of the Engineer Class.

SGX (Default Unlocked) - A modern 9x19mm PDW suited for close-range engagements. Can be configured to improve its ranged capabilities.

PW5A3 (Rank 6) - This popular SMG performs admirably in all engagements up to and including mid range.

PW7A2 (Rank 19) - A 4.6x30mm chambering ensures this PDW outperforms at range. Still effective in close quarters due to its high rate of fire.

UMG-40 (Rank 29) - A renowned polymer SMG with a low rate of fire, chambered in .40 Caliber. Outperforms its peers at mid range encounters.

USG-90 (Rank 36) - A high-capacity PDW with a unique design. Lower effective damage is offset by a high rate of fire.

KV9 (Rank 45) - With a blistering cyclic rate, this sleek SMG will near-instantly consume this ammunition within a standard magazine.

SCW-10 (Unlocked Through Assignment CLOSE QUARTERS 1) - Chambered in 10mm, this modular modern SMG offers increased stopping power where other PDWs fall short.

SL9 (Unlocked Through Assignment CLOSE QUARTERS 2) - Boasting a unique design, this cutting edge SMG is adaptable to a variety of combat scenarios.

LMG

LMG M240L support weapon rests on a dark workbench surrounded by ammunition and magazines.

The Signature Support Weapon is built for laying down fully-automatic suppressing fire: sustained trigger pulls down range that cause hesitation at a minimum, and lethal damage at a maximum. Combining both the selection of the heavier Squad Automatic Weapons (SAWs) and more agile Light Support Weapons (LSWs), LMGs are the biggest in size compared to all other weapons, and the largest in terms of average magazine capacity.

L110 (Default Unlocked) - An all-purpose Squad Automatic Weapon chambered in 5.56x45mm. Well-matched for most engagements.

DRS-IAR (Rank 9) - A reliable LSW that blurs the boundary into service rifle. Attachments equipped decide how to best use this versatile firearm.

M/60 (Rank 20) - This widely used general purpose machine gun is capable of keeping enemies suppressed with a slow and steady fire rate.

RPKM (Rank 30) - The original Light Support Weapon. Relatively configurable and best suited for mid range suppressive fire.

M123K (Rank 38) - An ideal LMG for mobile fire support. Will dominate in close-quarters and keep enemies suppressed with a high fire rate.

M250 (Rank 46) - A companion to the M277 with similar ranged overmatch effectiveness, combining suppressing fire with lethal ranged capability.

KTS100 MK8 (Unlocked Through Assignment BULLET STORM 1) - With low recoil and steady RPM, this light machine gun’s moderate damage is offset by accurate suppressive fire.

M240L (Unlocked Through Assignment BULLET STORM 2) - A general purpose machine gun modernized to improve weight and increase capacity. Effective in both aggressive and defensive roles

DMR

Un fusil moderno rodeado de cargadores, munición y herramientas de mantenimiento, dispersas sobre una mesa de trabajo negra.

Designated Marksman Rifles are long-range, semi-automatic precision and marksman rifles for the soldiers who make every shot count regardless of their role. Available to all classes in Closed Weapon experiences.

M39 EMR (Rank 4) - Chambered in 7.62x51mm, this versatile marksman rifle is a solid addition to any squad arsenal

LMR27 (Rank 16) - With an intermediate chambering, this cutting-edge precision rifle allows for rapid follow-up shots at the cost of relatively low damage.

SVK-8.6 (Rank 33) - A precision rifle chambered in the powerful 8.6x70mm cartridge. Its lethality is offset by a lower effective fire rate.

SVDM (Unlocked Through Assignment DEADEYE 1) - A classic marksman’s rifle modernized for the 21st century. The right configuration can offer extreme mobility or ranged eliminations.

Sniper Rifle

Un fusil de francotirador con una mira sobre una superficie negra, rodeado de herramientas, munición y suministros de limpieza de armas.

One of two weapon categories capable of one-shot confirmed kills outside of Hardcore modes so long as it’s a headshot, the Sniper Rifle is the true marksman’s preferred long-range tool in either a bolt-action or semi-automatic format. Recon Class soldiers call it their Signature Weapon, and can back it up with their deadly passive abilities.

M2010 ESR (Default Unlocked) - This accurate bolt action sniper rifle reaches targets at greater distances with its .300 WM chambering.

SV-98 (Rank 26) - Firing the legacy 7.62x54 mmR, this balanced bolt-action rifle is most effective between 45m-90m.

PSR (Unlocked Through Assignment DEADEYE 2) - Designed for extreme ranges, this sniper rifle is most effective between 75m-150m.

Mini Scout - Coming soon in Season 1!

Shotgun

A soldier holding up a shotgun advances while looking to the side. Two other soldiers can be seen walking alongside.

The antonym of a sniper rifle, yet with some capable of one-shot kills in some non-Hardcore scenarios at extreme close ranges, Shotguns pump out pellets or a single slug towards their target.  Available to all classes in Closed Weapon experiences.

M87A1 (Default Unlocked) - A reliable pump-action shotgun chambered with 3” shells for improved stopping power.

M1014 (Rank 42) - This popular semi-automatic shotgun hits hard with 3” shells, but is limited by its magazine tube capacity.

18.5KS-K (Unlocked Through Assignment POINT BLANK 2) - A magazine-fed, semi-automatic shotgun firing 2.75” shells for sizable damage.

DB-12  - Coming soon in Season 1!

Secondary

Light brown P18 sidearm is laid on a black surface surrounded by tools, ammo, and gun cleaning supplies.

Every soldier’s reliable backup when the Primary Weapon runs dry, or their lone ballistic defense means when they are without one…

P18 (Default Unlocked) - A reliable sidearm able to meet the demands of almost any combat scenario.

ES 5.7 (Rank 24) - Companion to the USG-90, this sidearm has generous magazine capacity and exceptional bullet velocity compared to its peers.

M45A1 (Rank 39) - A classic sidearm brought into the 21st century. The damage it inflicts with .45 ACP is offset by a low base magazine capacity.

M44 (Rank 48) - A modern revolver and hand cannon. Best ranged potential of any sidearm, but its capacity and effective rate are limited.

GGH-22 - Coming soon in Season 1!

M357 TRAIT - Coming soon in Season 1!

Throwables, Melee and Gadgets

Two soldiers facing away from each other, both holding large sledgehammers resting on their shoulders. Fire can be seen in the distance behind them.

Note: Gadgets and Class-Specific Grenades are covered in Class Guides across the Onboarding Hub.

Rounding out a loadout are your choice of Gadgets - class-dependent tools - as well as Throwables and Melee options. Each class has two unique Grenade choices.

The Frag Grenade and all Melee Tools can be equipped to any loadout regardless of its Class.

Frag Grenade (Available to All Classes)

The reliable standard issue Fragmentation Grenade (or just Frag, for short) deserves a whole manual to describe its utility and use… But here’s a summary: this throwable explosive device delivers a small, yet mighty, payload of fragmented shards of metal. Light enough to be thrown several dozen meters and able to fit through windows, doors and crawl spaces, the Frag is the answer for how to introduce yourself to the enemy before a weapon-to-weapon engagement, especially when the enemy is holed up in their sniping spot.

Pressing the button or key to throw a grenade chucks the Frag Grenade forward. However, holding this command allows for “cooking” the grenade, as the in-game soldier will pull the safety pin without throwing it. The frag will explode in 3.5 seconds after its pin is pulled - a smart soldier throws it well before those seconds have elapsed. A genius, however, is able to time the detonation so that it explodes right at, on or over its target.

The Frag is usually meant to deal with infantry; an explosion within a meter of an enemy is a confirmed kill. Any damage beyond that point peters off until it reaches the extent of the blast radius. Assume a necessary follow-up shot after throwing a grenade, with the worst-case scenario being the surprise of an automatic elimination. It can also destroy some smaller, less dense objects, as well as blow Gadgets to smithereens, but don’t expect it to do much against a large vehicle or a building.

Melee Tools

Combat Knife / Hunting Knife - Swift and efficient, both the Combat and Hunting Knives allow for the fastest infantry ground speed in the game. Go against any muscle memory when using these weapons: they do not deal one-hit kills anywhere, as that requires a full-on takedown behind an enemy. Now if only you can put a bipod on one of these…

Sledgehammer - The sole provider of damage dealing not just to infantry, but also to objects and vehicles, in exchange for a slower swing and sprint speed. Vehicle damage is limited to just a few health points, while some of the most brittle cover pieces, Gadgets and makeshift barriers will crumble with a single swing.
