BATTLEFIELD 6 SEASON 2 FREE TRIAL GUIDE

March 10, 2026

TABLE OF CONTENTS:

A soldier firing out of a combat helicopter as others move across rocky terrain, with mountains in the background and text “FREE TRIAL Mar 17–24” centered on screen.

From March 17 (12 p.m. UTC, 5 a.m. PDT)  to March 24 (12 p.m. UTC, 5 a.m. PDT), ultimate all-out warfare is free for everyone*. Wage war across the 4 maps including the rocky European terrain of Contaminated, or plunge underground into the depths of Hagental Base. Experience new Nightfall features with total darkness, bring the boom with tanks, jets, and the new Scout Helicopter across Conquest, Breakthrough, and Escalation, or kick back with the squad with an introduction to Battlefield Multiplayer with Casual Breakthrough.

Fight across Contaminated or plunge underground into Hagental Base. Choose from six modes, including Conquest, and experience new Nightfall features in Domination or Team Deathmatch.

If you have not had the chance to squad up for the best-selling FPS of 2025, then it’s time to become the reinforcement that turns the tide of the War of 2027.

If you already play REDSEC, all your progress - Career Rank, Hardware Unlocks and Levels, Customization items, etc. - carries over to this Free Trial. All that progress also carries over to the full Battlefield 6 experience upon purchase; this Free Trial is your opportunity to try before you buy and keep everything you earn when it’s over.

If you already own Battlefield 6, then mark your calendar in advance: you have the green light to give these new recruits a warm welcome… Don’t make it personal - in fact, if they are on your squad, you might make a new Battlefield Friend this week - but we’d appreciate any clips of you showing off how you give them a proper “Welcome to Battlefield” moment.

Feel free to tag our Battlefield social accounts (linked at the bottom of our website) or use our new community content submission portal here to share your moment. Might we suggest teaching some newcomers what 75 tons of mobile steel does to campers?

Whether you’re new to Battlefield or a veteran, here’s everything the Free Trial has to offer, how to access it, and everything you need to know about how to make the most of this week:

How to Access the Battlefield 6 Free Trial

To access the Free Trial, simply download the free-to-play Battlefield: REDSEC experience on your preferred gaming platform.

There is no need to purchase Battlefield 6 in order to access the trial; search for "Battlefield: REDSEC" and, after downloading the game with the latest update, the Battlefield 6 Free Trial will appear as a section of the main menu.

The Season 2 Free Trial of Battlefield 6 is planned to only be active in Battlefield: REDSEC from (12 p.m. UTC, 5 a.m. PDT)  to March 24 (12 p.m. UTC, 5 a.m. PDT); after this date, you can continue playing Battlefield REDSEC for free, keeping any unlocks you earned during the free trial period.

For more information on how to download REDSEC, refer to this EA Help article.

Free Trial Details

During the Free Trial, there are three playlists: an introduction to Multiplayer in Casual Breakthrough, another playlist that showcases the best of all-out warfare in Battlefield 6, and a third playlist based around the new Nightfall mechanics with darkness across Hagental Base:

Nightfall

Intense firefight inside a large bunker as soldiers in tactical gear exchange gunfire behind barricades, with flames and smoke billowing from an explosion in the background.

Nightfall takes place on the new map Hagental Base and features Team Deathmatch, Squad Deathmatch, and Domination. In this specific playlist, the lights are out and the hunt is on, requiring squads to use NVGs or attachments to see into - or light up - the dark.

Stay tuned for a dedicated guide on this playlist for Battlefield 6, as well as the Gauntlet version of this mode for REDSEC!

All-Out Warfare

Soldiers engage in battle as a helicopter hovers above, with tanks and explosions in the background.

All-Out Warfare takes the modes that define Battlefield’s iconic gameplay. Here, you can experience the classic fan-favorite mode Conquest, the intense frontline battle of Breakthrough, and a mode introduced at Battlefield 6’s global launch: Escalation, a battle that escalates over time with redefined map boundaries and additional vehicles.

This playlist features four maps: two from Season 2 - Contaminated and Hagental Base, to be released in the Nightfall update - as well as Eastwood from Season 1 and Mirak Valley from the game’s day one rotation. These maps all offer a unique set of vehicles, from the new Dirt Bike and Scout Helicopter in Contaminated, to jets in Mirak Valley… To the most unexpected damage dealer known as the golf carts of Eastwood.

Casual Breakthrough

Soldiers engage in a fierce battle in a suburban area, with a large explosion in the background. They are running past a gold cart and numerous water sprinkler.

The third Free Trial playlist, Casual Breakthrough, is a more relaxed way to jump into Battlefield 6 while still earning progression and completing challenges, perfect for new players or those looking for a less intense experience compared to a full PvP playlist.

Prepare to attack or defend sectors on Hagental Base, Contaminated, and Eastwood with the following key gameplay differences compared to a traditional Breakthrough match:

  • Smaller player teams: 16 real players (8 per team) with 32 bot teammates/enemies (16 per team)
  • Full Career XP, Weapon XP, and Battle Pass XP Progression, with reduced XP from Bot-related actions (e.g. downing a bot rather than a player).
  • Ability to complete Challenges, but Accolades, Dogtags, and Career Stat Updates won’t be tracked.

Top Five Battlefield 6 Season 2 Nightfall Free Trial Tips

A Recon soldier in camouflage aims a sniper rifle in a battlefield setting, with fire and smoke in the background.

Before we get too ahead of our dedicated Nightfall guides and details on how to navigate the darkness, here are five tips ahead of the Free Trial for those joining our community during this week:

  1. REMEMBER THE RANGE. Use the Firing Range - accessible in the main menu or while editing a loadout - to test your Settings, including sensitivity, aim assist, and keybinds or button mappings, before jumping into a playlist.
  2. BREAKOUT IN BATTLEFIELD WITH CASUAL BREAKTHROUGH. We won’t stop you from jumping into Nightfall, especially if you’re more familiar with tactical FPS games, but if you are new to Battlefield, try Casual Breakthrough first. The mix of real players and bots can provide a better live-fire learning environment for both infantry and vehicle combat.
  3. WALLS ARE MEANT TO BE BROKEN. From Hagental Base to Eastwood and more, using an explosive weapon, a Sledgehammer, or even enough bullets can tear walls down and create more paths to victory.
  4. GET BEHIND THE WHEEL (OR FLIGHT STICK). Battlefield goes beyond infantry combat in All-Out Warfare; don’t be afraid to pilot a ground or air vehicle during the Free Trial, especially those you can respawn into directly. Refer to our guides - both for basic controls and key differences between vehicles - for driving best practices and, for flying specifically, try using Simplified Controls if you are struggling to keep it airborne.
  5. BRING A FLASHLIGHT… OR BATTERIES. For Nightfall playlists, your NVGs require batteries to function. These recharge over time, with the Support Class' Supply Bag and Pouch accelerating charge times and adding additional batteries. Alternatively, you can add a thermal sight or flashlight attachment on a weapon to either see through dark spaces or light them up.
